I know that you are right but it tastes and looks like lumpy wallpaper paste:o I'd much rather have a curry flavoured pot noodle. Oh, and some fruit.

Can you eat raw oats? I'd expect that to be very low GI, which would suit me just fine.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

um, so it doesn't NEED to keep long in a jug! :rotfl::rotfl:

I like milk, but I'm fussy. After years of drinking it I now greatly prefer skimmed milk...so while we get plenty of full cream milk (still a relatively low fat food, though it changes at times of year..the fat content) I kinda prefer not to drink it much.

LIR you need to awaken the eco warrior inside you! I do feel happier reducing any packaging/waste/refuse and the like where possible.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

I thought most dogs were lactose intolerant? Our vet advised against giving cow's milk to westie....something to do with not producing the right enzymes to break up the lactose IIRC.

yes....and no! Its been said about people too. Some schools of thought swear by it.

Cats are too, but it can be used in favour. e.g. one of may cats is a little prone to constipation. As part of an otherwise well balanced diet she might have an addition of milk if she's a bit ''tummyish'' to keep things moving. otoh the barn cats here have had a daily ration of milk dregs.....and it shows. :( I doubt many will reach a huge age.

edit: to make it clear I wouldn't advocate feeding milk to any dog and certainly any cat.

My point was if you are buying it daily you can buy least packing option: it will last a day/two in a jug no problem. We get through v. little milk packaging, (unless you count the cows bodies we take it from ;)) and when I buy skimmed milk the bottles are mainly reused, we still have loads of apple juice in the freezer from last year, we must get on and use that up, I'll need to freeze this years soon!

Final planning applications went in today and yesterday. Its taken a year. The only thing missing that has to be sent on...the bat report. Being nature observant and thinking about what the bat wants obviously includes being VERY late on the report (we were meant to have it the week after he found the bats here). Pftt.

Quarry Tiles :) Lovely. We have some hiding under our reception hall. It was too cold down there though for me to keep living with them. Needs a nice Aga to keep it cosy.

My parents have a nice 4-oven Aga, which does indeed keep it nice and cosy.

I reckon English Heritage would have a fit if my parents wanted to replace it, anyway.

At the supermarket the other day I saw they are now selling milk in a bag. Jug it, they say. Interesting ecological move...

when i was living in Poland in 1996/7 milk all came in bags. So not terribly innovative of Tescos....

Although both cats and dogs would certainly advocate it for themsevles, in my experience.....

Is your palce listed, LIR? Do you have all that hassle, too? Good luck with it!

We buy milk with no packaging at a local deli - take your own glass bottle, fill it up, bring it home. They do the same for oils and vinegars, too.

We drink about 3 pints a week between the 3.5 of us - Oh, me, Isaac, and Sam during the week (our nanny).
