I know that you are right but it tastes and looks like lumpy wallpaper paste:o I'd much rather have a curry flavoured pot noodle. Oh, and some fruit.

It tastes lovely, trust me. Mixed with apple juice and mixed seeds including linseeds gives it a sweet taste. Good for skin too.:D

I haven't eaten a Pot noodle since I was about 10 I think...they were really luxe in the olden days....and Vesta dried packs that made 'chinese food'.

    How about fresh soup tubs?

We were going to go slate but copped out due to sealing and possibility of damage.

Went for proper ceramic in the end same look as naturals but without the downsides of naturals or porcelain (stain resistant and straight through colour, no top surface like glaze etc.)

The sealing doesn't look too much of a pain - you paint some stuff on with a brush, leave it to dry, do the same again, do it again in 6 months and a year, and then every few years. OH has volunteered....

Cheap Chinese slate? Or Welsh, or Delabole, or what?

Dunno where it's from - I'll ask OH.

Update - he says it's from Islington. Which is dead helpful, although he thought it was funny.

the website says one sort is from China, the other sort is from Wales.

NDG's place is sounding lovely and must be great to get the core work done before moving in.
We could never do that and had to live with half finished work, no work and all the mess as we were so maxed out........we had some amazing indian restaurant carpet for several years with really hairy frayed edges.....but ened up with slate through the hall and pale maple in the lounge.

We couldn't really have bought this place unless we could do it - otherwise we'd have been living in a building site for ages. It's an absolute mess at the moment!

It is exciting! You can't beat natural materials as floor coverings. Get all the basics right. The white will show the space for what it is and if you're lucky enough to have interesting objects to fill the walls, they become the centrepiece. Although the space itself is the centrepiece in that place and I couldn't see it being any colour that tried to upstage the dimensions and character. I love London brick. I'd build myself a London brick wall here and sleep right by it, but it would look totally daft. Not just me sleeping next to it :o

It's not really London stock brick, in our place, although i love that, too. It's redder than stock.

Brilliant idea Pastures! I quite like the little pots of peach slices too, so I will get some in. Thank you for looking after me:o
Not the pots, they're for suckers.
Tins.... same stuff but cheaper. The pots are 'lifestyle'.

    :)

Sainsbury's do a very MSE basics tin at 18p
    http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/sainsburys-price-comparison/Tinned_Fruit/Sainsburys_Basics_Pineapple_Pieces_in_Juice_227g.html

Usually tins that size are 40-45p, but if you keep looking, then there's usually some around at 25p.

Get the ring pull ones and you can even toss a couple in the car for work, or slip one in your bag as you dash out.

and Vesta dried packs that made 'chinese food'.

I bought two of those yesterday! My occasional guilty pleasure. About once every six months I just crave them. They were my favourite food when I was a kid (after Bachelors chicken noodle soup which I have not eaten for 20 years). My mum really couldn't cook because I was probably more familiar with food that you just add water to than I should have been. Doll Chinese noodles, Bachelors chinese style rice, pot noodles. I can't stand pot noodle now, it must be missing some e numbers because it doesn't taste the same. Pudding would be tinned mandarins.

Thankfully my grandmother could cook and I occasionally got fresh food and inspiration. And weird Scottish curry.

LOL/Islington. Yep - big slate mine right in the middle.

It's amazing that you can ship slate all the way from China cheaper than you can get Welsh or Delabole (Cornwall) slate.

I've started wondering why people say that Chinese is inferior. Not just slate but oak and granite and almost any natural resource.

I don't whether it is or not but China is a big place, it can't produce everything inferior. How do you produce inferior oak trees, for example?

Slate from Islington. Made me giggle.

You can now buy Pot Noodle, without the Pot - and it's cheaper. I guess they'll eventually bring out a special Pot Noodle Mug, the size/shape of a pot noodle, for you to make your potless noodles in.

They Potless Noodles are in sachets. It's not really the same without the Pot is it. They've got less noodles and are in four flavours, usually costing about 50p, but there are some deals occasionally making them just 24p.

I used to have a Curry Pot Noodle for lunch every day when I first started work. Loved them!
