I often do. I measure out a portion but then might not want it all. Sometimes my chickens get it...its their favourte food. Sometimes it becomes part f a salad the next day or chucked in soup (though I don't like rice in soup so ...). Sometimes my dogs get it. Its not waste if you use it, right?0 -

Poor kid. Its worth knowing the circle of life though. Better to eat chicken that's had the freedom to be played with outside and had a short but happy enough life than chicken that has sat immobile no room to move and in its own excretia with a short life plagued with discomfort. IMO.0 -

Women!
<exasperated shrug>
So in the 12 minutes it takes to cook the rice you've changed your mind about how hungry you are?

Sort of. Yes
If it makes it better I rarely have white rice, but rather brown which takes a few monutes more, or better still, black or red.
I really love the little short grained back korean rice but can't get it out here. I need to make a list for dh to do shopping...but not now...not if we have to empty kitchen for work this summer.
DH is dreaming of a summer where all hot food is cooked on the bbq. little does he know I'm thinking of having the cooker wired in to the animal feed room on the farm:D:D
LydiaJ and her kids have inspired me and I want to put a coat of paint in the hall way. How awful would it be to do this over the existing wall paper as a medium term measure? (in a few years we'll be knocking doors through these walls, chasing pipes and wires etc etc)?0 -

He does know that the chicken / lamb etc he eats comes from the chickens / lambs he sees running around - my parents' place helps in that respect, as does the farm shop nearby.
He did tell my parents he didn't want to eat "that black chicken because it's my friend", but it's an egg chicken, so we reassured him....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

You can't know how hungry you are until you're eating, though....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Sounds fine. We paint on lining paper anyway due to living in a slightly older property and the walls not being smooth.
If you mean patterned wallpaper then just be aware it will take more than one coat to cover the pattern and will look rubbish until it is fully covered.0 -

I'm good at estimating.
Male efficiency?
Or is it just I'll eat however much is on my plate?0 -

thanks. Yes, no point in putting lining paper up here to be trashed in a few years. Only pattern is on a ghastly freeze at the top. Though I think painting the pipes will be very boring!0 -
This must've been the days where people didn't clean their pans out.
Pans always went in the fridge, with the remains of the soup inside. If she opened the fridge door to find a pan of soup already sitting in there, they would get merged.
You always knew when she considered a guest important because they would get a freshly made soup. You would always encourage people to have seconds, particularly if it was a strongly flavoured soup, to stop the remains being shovelled into the previous pot.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
