A friend has a tempur mattress and loves it. Memory foam is known to restrict air circulation, and can be warm. The coil/sprung mattresses with memory foam tops are reported to be a good.

I've a mattress with a pillow topper. It is very comfortable. Only complaint is after some time the topper shapes around where you lie.

I think I'll try the memory foam topper next time, or buy a normal mattress and purchase a topper separately.

I'm a cold person....the idea of a bed that got hot is delicious. DH is a hot person....so he thinks it dreadful, so I guess he should win this discussion as its not as easy to cool down as it is to warm up. He also thinks the memory foam makes rolling over and a lot of movement not as easy, so he is opposed to toppers etc too.

we'll have to resort to a couple of hammocks hung side by side I guess.

Can you get a single (memory foam) topper for one side of the bed? Can you do the continental option of two singles attached together - don't know if they fit if different mattresses.

I've tried a tempur like mattress a few times (while holidaying). Suprisingly more comfortable than first impressions. Good for sweating, no sauna required, just an early morning shower.

Hammocks - good luck when the pets jump up to get in.

we put a hammock up recently in the garden....the cats thought it was great. :) If a dog tried to join me I'd worry. :)

My guess is he'ss win this and well get another sprung mattress...sometime in the future. Probably before retirement.

Well if you want the mattress to last longer you will just have to treat it more gently...

3 bar, twin impeller, 22mm pipes all the way, DW asked if we could change the shower head to something with more volume and less pressure as it was a bit painful on the skin :)

The cold header fills a bit slowly too but we haven't yet managed to pump it dry.

I hope you have a large water tank?

We run pumped water from a gravity tank and it's been fine. The occasional air bubble, but otherwise no problems to report - so far.
    I think....

lir I'm entering the bed debate late. We have two memory foam beds here. 1 in the master and one in the guest room. They are both designed with a foam top on a sprung matress so you get the best of both worlds. Now I've got one I don't like sleeping on anything else. I feel the cold a lot, DH does not and he also loves it. The cheaper guest bedroom one is by Airsprung, can't remember who the expensive one is by.

Get a single topper, on your half of the bed only.

There'll be a step in the middle of the bed.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

My surveyor doing the engineering calcs wants to know about trees - anyone one know how near/big I have to tell him about?

Don't be like us. We have mature oaks 5 metres from our door step.

I'm presuming that's what we're allowed to get away with as we got a mortgage and insurance with that.
