In terms of flower... I think the white bush is a lemon scented winter flowering honeysuckle, probably Lonicera fragrantissima, although we have lost the label and I can't remember details.
I'm so bad with flower and plant names. My wife keeps going on about hydrangeas and hellebores, but I only have a clue when she clarifies with something like "That small round yellow one in the corner!"0 -
I've spent my time scoffing jaffa cakes and ordering random tools online for my new 'hobby' !!! income stream. It's been p1ssing down most of the day here today, and most of yesterday. Saturday was like a summer's day though and down on the beach it was more than a little warm.
Waves were HUGE yesterday, 15-20' thunderers they were. Magnificent to watch. The earth shakes when they land - and the roar. Brilliant.0 -
wonder how misskool's ay has been.
I saw two mosquitos. That's not a count down event, so not what misskool was doing.0 -
I spent the morning fretting because my standing orders hadn't come out of my account.....several calls to Santander later and I was finally satisfied that nothing nasty was going on and it was just a technical glitch (they had all gone out by 4pm this afternoon much to my relief). All the customer services people I spoke to found it quite strange that I was getting stressy about money NOT being taken out of my account instead of money being taken out.
Didn't do my OCD much good though, I like things to run like clockwork and on time, I even got palpitations over it and couldn't eat!
Anyway, with the boys off school, we went on our normal school holiday treat of a trip to the cinema (nice local cinema where the prices don't make you wince and you can bring your own food and drink if you want). Parked up in the cinema car park and we were all getting out of the car when I noticed a group of older generation people pointing at my car and at us in what seemed like quite angry gestures and I knew exactly what they were getting antsy about....the cinema building also houses the local bingo hall and those going to bingo seem to think the car park is only for them.
So we follow them into the building and find they are complaining very loudly to the assistant sorting out their entry about a car parking illegally in the car park and giving him my registration number...I did try to butt in to tell them not to worry, I am using the building but they didn't want to listen. On and on they went before finally going off to play bingo and the assistant was just about to go out and put a notice on my car when I (finally) managed to get over that it was my car they were complaining about.
The manageress heard this and confirmed that I had every right to park in the car park as I was using the building but it really got me eeky more than I already had been.
Film was good (Yogi) but ruined for middle son as the youths in the row behind him (he sat across the aisle from us), had been kicking the back of his seat and throwing things at him all the way through the film.....he didn't tell me until afterwards unfortunately. Alas, it has now made him unsettled and he has refused to eat anything since this morning, has been sick and has locked himself away in his bedroom not wanting to talk to anyone.
So not the best starts to the half term holidays......We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

I don't go to the cinema, it's not good alone + I don't like having people behind me + I don't like the noise the others make + the nearest one's 20 miles away, but they're building one here now.
Last time I went, it was a "date". Second/last though. He was a right 4rse. We'd chatted online and met for a lunchtime drink - all was OK, he was fine. He was well paid, in a smallish/cheap house in the cheap area and had a lodger. I was so poor the lunchtime drink nearly broke me. He asked me to go to the cinema, I drove 17 miles to meet him and he decided we'd then use my car to go the rest of the way, which from there was another 15 miles. He then didn't even offer to pay for me to go in and when we came out and went in a pub he didn't even offer to buy the first round. He'd known I rarely went out as I didn't have spare money after the mortgage/bills were paid.
So, he was a selfish pr1ck. Didn't see him again.0 -

You can book them online now so you can get the back row if you want. If you don't go when a film has just come out, they aren't that busy, even on a weekend.
I go when I get moody with H and show him that I can disappear as well if I want to (he doesn't do anything naughty, he is just able to walk out the door without seeking permission or feeling guilty about being a bad parent by leaving the children alone with the other parent). It's a lovely indulgence. I watch girly stuff. I learned to go by myself when I got into the freebie film thread and realised that lots of people go alone. You always watch it alone, so it's not really something you need company for...Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

When you're in a couple, it's a choice to go alone. The world is different when it's not a choice, but the way everything is.0 -
Had to come back, just in case ... you've put the fear of god into me. If somebody books online and can pick their seat, how would somebody wandering in know that the seat is booked? I'd be petrified of sitting in a booked seat and annoying somebody by doing that!0

If the seats are bookable online and you buy a ticket in the cinema, you get a ticket with a seat number on it, just like in the theatre now.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Just checked. Two out of my nearest four cinemas are bookable online; one isn't; fourth one's closed down. So I clicked the button to book online, just to see what happened .... I chose a film, and it took me to buying the tickets - no seat choices.0
