Does anyone remember when I said eldest had been nominated for two awards at school?
Well last night it was the awards night and he won both awards! Best Achievement/effort in RE and Resistant materials.
So proud of him.
Bask in the glory Sue!
You've raised him, fed him, nurtured him, educated him, taught him right from wrong, it's your award really!:D
Seriously, congrats.
The nice people have offspring who acheive don't they? treliac's daughter, now Sue's son...
Let us hope the Inspectors daughter gets well enough for a family christmas for them all.:xmassmileIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Thanks guys
Well to add to my glory, was speaking to the head teacher last night and he was saying how impressed he is with middle son's maths (7c before half term in an assessment) and one of the top students in the 3rd year for it.
Now all we need to do is get youngest up to his potential and we will be well away (5a in his before half term assessment in maths - he is stronger than middle son in maths)
Makes me feel vindicated for all my focus on education at home and socially (I make going shopping into a maths lesson, a conversation on MSN, an English lesson hehe).
Had a meeting at the school this morning for youngest's statement review, they are keeping it as is with no reduction in one to one with a few tweaks to his IEP. They are pleased with his progress but know there is a lot more locked away which they cannot, as yet, get him to show. Unfortunately, the shutters are still partially closed but it is better than it was at the beginning of term.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Nice people, anyone in or near Manchester?
I've got to head that way next weekend, & am wondering whether anyone would be kind enough to communicate with me regarding road conditions. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Bird watch:
Squirrels back, sitting on the seed tray feeding to their hearts desire
I've bought some fat balls (sorry PN, I know I could make them). Petworld had a bumper box of 100 for £14.99, so less than 15p each. I do wonder if there are different qualities and I've got the Tesco value rather than Tesco finestThey came in a cruddy cardboard box rather than a posh plastic tub, so I hope the price reflects the container not the grub quality.
Robin and bluetits seem to have taken to the fat balls so thats good. Initially the robin wouldn't venture out as far as the feeding station and I was throwing seeds on the decking for him.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. By next weekend all could change, but yesterday the snow had melted away and it was cold but not freezing.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Are you in the vicinity silvercar?
Thanks for this, I am likely to ask again mid/late next week, because as you say, current forecast is a slightly warmer weekend, with a return to very cold next week!:snow_laugIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Had the washing machine serviced yesterday, for the first time since we bought it 12 years ago. It's had over 16,000 hours of use, so I don't begrudge spending £130 getting the door seal replaced. My son pointed out that it's almost possible to get a new washing machine for that, though. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
