In my household it wouldn't be called that, it'd be called: Get a Little Man In Day.

Does the man need to be little to fit into the loft space?

Pastures that sounds idyllic. I have to tell you that inspired by you I bought some things for making jewellery. I bought some pliers, some wire to string stones on and some nice quartz stones. Unfortunately I have now discovered that I'm really not very good. The necklace I've been trying to make looks more like the razor wire on top of a prison:o.
Aww, wish you were closer and I'd pop over with some tips. It's ever so easy, I know this much because I am absolutely rubbish at any form of dextrous or manual tasking. I am so unbelievably ham-fisted and cack-handed that I can't easily paint a 1metre square of flat wall. I can't sew or make anything. But this I can do.

Yes. Never get a large one, if you've got a large one then frisk them before they go up there in case they're sneaking in some pies to scoff.... they could be up there for days until they fit back through the hatch again.

    Pastures,

Not everyone can do it. You have to change the way you describe your abilities:
I find it ever so easy. I am absolutely rubbish at any other form of dextrous or manual tasking. I am so unbelievably ham-fisted and cack-handed that I can't easily paint a 1metre square of flat wall. I can't sew or make anything apart from jewellery. But this I can do. I can make it, and I can design it too.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Normally it is just 'spring loaded' - push one end in to the holder enough of the other end to come free.

Push and rotate a little? Think of of ours was that way last year.

I often buy bulbs from here. Including a bulb called a "butterfly" which had broken and which I'd removed, but which I didn't even know was named "butterfly".

For all their stock of bulbs I've checked.. there is an associated diagram, with all the measurements, and fitting bits. If you get your old bulb you can compared it to the diagram to be more confidently sure you're ordering the correct bulb.

I'm very happy for you Lydia and your children. May you all really enjoy your own home. Glad the sellers left the house all clean nice, and nice touch from your work colleagues too. They must have been able to sense your excitement, to get and sign you such a card.

I completed on my house today. I have the keys. The children and I have been there and looked round. We went up in the loft, and played hide & seek in the cupboards, etc. I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!

Viva, if you've access to modern technology and can post a photo online, we can rescue your prison wire and transform it into elegance :)

    They are indeed spring loaded.
You can often pull the plastic holder type things out away from the tube and the two little pins the tubes are secured/powered by.
Do one end whilst holding the tube and then youll be able to pull the tube away from the far end without touching/going near it.
Reverse the process to insert a new one.

And like michaels says, as far as I'm aware there are only the two sizes (for 4ft tubes anyway)

Thanks everyone. Mine was spring loaded, but as it turns out, not very springy, which is where I was getting confused. Thanks to you all I have now bought and changed bulb and I will be able to see in the dark in my kitchen again. Cheers!

    I can't for two reasons:

    1) I am far too shamefully embarrassed:o:o:o:o:o:o:o

    2) Showing people how to reconstruct razor wire into something beautiful may lead to lots of prison escapes. Beware of anyone standing roadside and offering to sell you jewellery within 5 miles of a jail.

1 is the main reason. I made 2 up. That deserves a few more of these:o:o:o:o.
