Sounds like a fun day! I have been in bed with flu this week and my balance went, which is why I've been online so much, all I could do is lay in bed with my laptop. Couldn't stand up, couldn't do anything, pathetic.

Today DH has flown to America. Last night we had a romantic night booked at a hotel so I could see him off. Instead I got to drive him to St Albans station because I couldn't even manage the drive to Gatwick, let alone staying. So today I've been watching planefinder.net for about 8 hours to watch for him landing. Then I'll not go to bed for another 2 hours until he gets to where he's staying and phones me to say he's ok. That's after 20 years together. I'm sad:o.

BTW, did you actually buy anything, what did you see that you liked the best?

aww...hope you feel better soon :(

and no, that's not sad at all. That's sweet!

And I can't find any photos of living room to show you :o

    Evening nice people.

Wanted to stop buy to mention that Amazon has an amazing sale on Leitmotiv lighting and fans at the moment - way less than 1/2 price on many items.

I love this ceiling fan down from £240 to £98:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Present-Leitmotiv-Ceiling-Brushed-Aluminium/dp/B001T9NJ3Q/ref=sr_1_166?ie=UTF8&s=lighting&qid=1295201227&sr=1-166

There's this funky chandelier, down from £202 to £61
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Leitmotiv-LM476CH-Chandelier-Linea-Chrome/dp/B001T9NJ0Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=lighting&qid=1295201470&sr=1-1

Nice white multi-lamp pendant, would look good in kitchen, down from £280 to £89:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Leitmotiv-Pendant-Louvre-Modern-Design/dp/B00313JRFM/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1295202082&sr=8-9

Bonkers pendant light, down from £193 to £40
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Leitmotiv-Pendant-Lamp-Cosmos-Black/dp/B002G9TVDU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=lighting&qid=1295201470&sr=1-3
    and in white for £97
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Leitmotiv-Pendant-Lamp-Cosmos-White/dp/B002G9TVDK/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1295202082&sr=8-8

More traditional pendant light shell, down from £183 to £55
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Leitmotiv-Pendant-Lamp-Shell-Black/dp/B002G9TVCQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=lighting&qid=1295201470&sr=1-2

And for those of you with LOTS of money, the big diamond pendant, down from £5,200 to £1,580:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=node%3D580014031&field-keywords=Leitmotiv&x=0&y=0

Lots of others too if you like this kind of thing (which I do, but unfortunately my designer lighting eyes are bigger than my designer lighting purse).

    Eeeekk! How much?

Think the most I have ever spent on a light fitting is about £20 and we classed that as really splashing out!

My favourite home (apart from the one my parents own), was our first flat. Amazingly cold in the winter due to drafty single glazed sash windows, the back half of the house falling down but the room sizes, the view from the bay window and the excitement of our first home put all our other worries to the back burner.

Our lounge was massive, an 8 foot long sofa looked tiny in there and watching the television was fun as we only had a 14inch portable, in the summer, I would put a chair in the bay window area, open the window and enjoy the sunshine and the distant (very distant) sea views.

The back hallway near our bedroom, was big enough to have a massive bookcase, plus chair and still have plenty of room....we could almost have a party in that area.

When we moved from there, we moved into a tiny one bedroom house....with furniture suitable for a very large 1 bedroom flat....you could fit our new house several times into our old flat.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Shop was bizarre, as are many round this way. Tiny, shabby, unkempt, in disarray.... they had floods a month ago, but I think that's the way it always is. Two disengaged, miserable-looking, moronic staff behind the grubby counter. While I was looking around (trying not to trip over the boxes (opened/unopened/stacked/leaning) on the floor, orders were arriving via the Internet and I was party to their discussions... "Oh, I can't be bothered to do that one, I'll do this one, it's easier".... "Oh, she's making a necklace, they're not nice beads at all".... all thoroughly grim it was.

So, I picked up a few shiny things, but they really had little stock of interest, stuff wasn't labelled, there were lots of empty gaps. Staff could have filled the gaps, but they obviously preferred to be slouched on grubby chairs most of their day. Spent about £28, but not enough items to actually make anything useful. It's all just practise material really for me.

Online .... a whole new shiny world of promise was opened up to me - and stuff's cheaper, better, more choice, larger quantities available (no big gaps on their shelves).

I think I need to spend £500+ to really play around with a lot of ideas, to get a stock of 'the basics'.

I've not got any of it out of the bag so far though, I've no space/quiet/calm and am too on edge here to sit down in an orderly way, with good lighting, and actually make something... but the stuff and ideas are slowly accumulating.

I need my own space to get on with anything, I can't function without it really.

And that tax return's still not completed :) I just decided to take the weekend off from it.

Oh ... and I treated myself to a pie/chip lunch, which I ate in the car in the car park.... because I'm classy. It was that or endure a pub lunch for one and I hate that.

I hope you feel better this week. Are you going to try and decorate? Don't overdo it.

Still every cloud - we have all no doubt benefited more from your company than we would have done :)

    Personal taste differs!

Its not huge when you see it in the flesh. (I had first imagined in in a hall) The smallest birds are much smeller than I had imagined. I'd like three in a kitchen...but think it would be a beggar to clean in a kitchen. :)

Silvercar...you'll HATE our decor when we've finished here. :)

    I probably won't.

in an ideal world I would have a very modern house but with features; houses don't come like that anymore. Definitely not if you want a decent sized garden. So we have an oldish (1930s) house with some modern rooms like the kitchen and en-suites and then some rooms that really blend in to the character of the house, like the log burning fireplace means the main lounge has to be quite traditional. Bit of a hotch potch really. The first winter it was cold, so we had to double glaze and got rid of the wooden windows:o, then the front door let in the cold (single glazed with too much thin glass) so that was replaced with something quite traditional.

So I'm open to all styles really -except mock birds in lights.

Just wanted to add another voice to the swelling chorus agreeing that viva's marriage sounds wonderful rather than sad. :T

The last three days (ie since exchange) I have made significant progress decluttering the spare room, but am going to have to increase speed if I want to be ready to show removals people round to quote soon. I've got various friends offering to help, so am going to swallow my pride and let them see how cluttered it has got. :o

One of the boxes I dealt with was full of stuff from late-nearly-ex's house. In it I found a used roll of photographic film. It must be very old - he had had a digital camera for some time. I wonder what's on it?? I feel I ought to get it developed in case it has photos the children will be glad to have, but am not sure what I might find.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)
