I am going through an affiliate marketing phase, and I have just found out that they actually sell fake poop in a can.

Got any good programs? I've joined over 600 and most aren't consistent.... but I just shove a mention about them on my site... I never pluck something and promote it... so it's my own fault.0

These days I stick to really big companies. Most of my business is with the obvious - Amazon (co and com), ebay, and Walmart. I used to do all the minor affiliate programs, but I found they just were not reliable. I went through a phase of thin affiliate sites. These days, that's harder to do. I still make a nice chunk of change out of it, but it is no longer the heady days of youre when I could make $1000 a month just from Amazon are gone.
I am starting to come to the conclusion that really thick, niche, high authority sites are the future. Which means working for years on just one thing, to build up a site like MSE.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I love reading tomterm and PN writing in foreign. Its the internet equivalent of a French accent. Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr;)0

I've spread myself way too thinly, too many sites/domains, WP changed too regularly, I was doing lots of updates, skimping on the writing, no promoting..... winging it.
I have so much to do I never get round to promoting any of the sites. The trouble with being an authority site is you need really to have a real life product. e.g. Martin makes money as a financial advisor first ... and the site came from that. He didn't wake up one morning and on his way to the dole office thought "I think I'll start a site and tell people what I think". I don't have any specialism, or special interest, or lifelong hobby. Which is where I've always stumbled as I have no focus in what I do.
My driver is: interest in the fiddling, the researching, the finding ... and those emails that say "you've got funds".0 -

Wow.
That's not so strange. Surely, the little boy in you sees about half a dozen uses for that?
Then there's the revenge-seeking adult.....:D
(Speaking as someone who has to power-strim a 'public' grass area, there's a doggy-owning lady I'd like to give a present to....or rather several presents.... all around her twee little porch!)0 -

Well, I agree. Although I do a couple of things, in many ways the thing that has held me back is the lack of product. That's one of the reasons for doing affiliate marketing... the company does all the work around making products and selling them.
I personally think the people who get really rich all have some kind of a product to sell...
The only thing I absolutly know I will never do is write one of those horrible 'How to get rich on the internet' ebooks.

Me too: I recognise a product of some sort's needed, I also won't ever write an e-book on making money online
Easier to be an affiliate, but so many affiliates are just given a sh1tty stick, nobody really works for their affiliates.
I've managed to send out to my list a couple of times, each time a disaster of site-killing proportions, and it's on my list to speak to my host to ensure that when I do it next time I don't kill the site... must be some setting I can set. When I email my list, it should take a month for them all to receive it, but last time I hit the send button it went out in 2 days ..... I had to sit in the IIS admin area, kicking the pool every 5 minutes for two days
Oh for a product... something, a real thing, not an ebook or a promise. Something small, that I can make, that doesn't require much storage and is easily packed/posted0 -

You wait till I get really good colours again in the spring, the too tone ones are incredible. I think the best pearlescent ones were from a chicken that dies, but I'll be incubating some eggs in not many weeks now to try again!
edit , that is a chicken that died. The poor thing only had to go throuh death once.0
