Removing the top of a washing machine

Hi all,
I need to buy a washing machine for my house, but the gap I have is only 84.3 cm, while most WM are 85 cm tall. Is it possible to remove the cover of any WM?
Anyone has this problem?
Thanks!

You can remove the top, but it's dangerous and could invalidate the warranty. Why don't you raise the worktop slightly, or is this not an option?0

Probably about the same discrepancy.
I removed the top from the washing machine, only a couple of screws at the back, and it now fits easily.
The problem then is that there was then a gap of approx 3cm between top of machine and worktop where it was possible for little fingers (and bigger fingers) to touch electrical connections.
Solved this second problem by using a couple of pieces of mdf under the machine to raise it so that the gap at the top was less that 5mm.0 -
It's not possible to raise the top, it's solid granite, a big piece the width of the kitchen from wall to wall.
What WM do you have? Is it possible to remove the top of any model? I was thinking of ordering a Beko one, but not sure if I should do it with this problem... I've read somewhere else it's possible to do it with Bosch ones, but the are much more expensive...0 -
It's going to be quite noisy if you're running a washing machine with no top...0

The top will come off most machines it is how they are serviced, by a bosch over a beko it will last. Check out top removal in a shop.0

I doubt any solution is ideal, but have you considered removing the feet and using some sort of non slip matting instead?0

i would try removing the feet first. if no joy, then the top.Get some gorm.0

Thanks to all for the advice. I'll go to Comet this weekend to take a look at the different models and how easy would be to remove covers and/or legs.
Afraid I'll have the same problem with the dishwasher..0 -
They *can* be removed, certainly on Bosch ones. However I think I'd sooner shift a granite top than operate one without it - apart from it not being particularly safe it would make a racket, a lot of the sounddampening is in the top.
What did the previous occupants have in place - integrated appliances are easily adjustable in height from about 80cm give or take a few cm.0 -

But then I'm sure some people have had good experiences with them. Just thought I'd mention it.0
