Are there not regulations covering parents working hours in connection with childcare facilities?
No, I think I gave the link to the directgov website, the employer should consider it but does not have to give the employee flexible working hours.
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Employees/Flexibleworking/DG_10029491
However, the OP does not want this, she wants LESS hours.
IF her company agrees to this then it will mean a new contract of employment - if she goes sick in this time they could then get rid of her as she will be on a new contract, will not be entitled to Maternity Pay if she has not been on the new contract for 26 weeks.
However, she has stated that she wants them to get rid of her but with being pregnant and sick there is no way this will happen.0 -
I basically need them to get rid of me in order for me to either look for another job
The reason I am of work is a lot to do with the stress of the job and the fact that I see my daughter for 2 hours a day monday to friday.xx
2 points here
first of all there is nothing stopping you loking for a job whilst still in employment and if I correct, I am sure I read somewhere that it is easier to get another job whilst still being in one
secondly, if you are consumed with guilt over seeing your daughter for 2 hours a day then why on earth get pregnant again?! Clearly you need the income or you would have left by now but to be off with 'anxiety' and then go back and announce you are pregnant doesn't look very good.0 -
Could my employer get me to sign something that says that they are unable to cater for my needs and that the reason I can no longer working for the company is nothing to do with me being pregnant but due to my other requests. As for getting pregnant again we have budgeted for maternity pay and I would be looking for new employment after I complete my maternity. We are fine when I can claim this it is just prior to this and the concern surrounding my job that is the issue and if they terminate my employment. Also my daughters father doesn't move post until next month so this is when my childcare arrangements with my ex partner will change. So I am thinking a head to view all options. I was advised that my employer would think it best to cease my employment as they are unable to meet my requests. I just dont know my way around the system at all??x0

So you want to leave your job as it's too stressful with childcare arrangements but have no sanctions on you and you can claim benefits?
Sorry, it's not going to happen and if you think asking them to reduce your hours and them refusing is a way for you to get sacked then you're on a hiding to nothing with that either.
Politicians have been banging on for years for women to be treated fairly in the workplace (and quite rightly so) so if your job isn't suiting your needs anymore then you need to do what most people do which is to suck it up or jack it in and look for something else.0 -
Post up an SOA, unless you have major debt or a large mortgage you should be able to manage of your OH wage and child benefit, its a case of budgeting and spending wisely.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
And being 7 weeks pregnant should not hold you back. You have no obligation to tell any prospective employer at this stage that you are pregnant and I would doubt very much you would have a bump showing.
Morally some will say it's wrong but legally it's not.0 -
Yes I do want to work but think as I am pregnant it will effect my chances of seeking over employment.. That is what I asked earlier if I change my job will other employers be happy to take me on knowing that I will be going on maternity in 7 months time??I dont want to claim benefits at all but that is my worst case scenario.. just wanted to know if my employer cant help me CAN I seek employment somewhere else???or if I quit my job will another employer take me on as I am pregnant. I dont want to rely on state hand outs!!xx0

I don't think you have thought this through at all.
it is not going to happen you have either got to leave and cope or put up with it.
You will not get any benefits at all for being pregnant, nor for walking out of your job. And what is it that you think you'll be entitled to? Because it will not be anything except Job seekers allowance which is around £47 pw (I think)?0
