Hi
I am in desperate need of some advice into what benefits I can claim...
I have been off work with anxiety for the past 8 weeks and since then have found out I am pregnant. I already have a 2 year old who has attended full time nursery since I went back to work when she was 6 months old. Due to be current medical problems and work life balance I have requested that work review my current shift patterns and reduce my hours down from 40 to part time to help me. I have a feeling they are going to refuse this and terminate my contract. I am now concerned that as I am 7 weeks pregnant I will not be able to find another employer, does anyone know what benefits I will be entitled to. I have a partner who is on a good wage but is not enough to cover both our financial ties on a monthly basis. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you a permanent member of staff? How long have you worked there? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Everything else aside, they cant just terminate your contract just for asking for a change of hours. They can refuse your request, but they cant just dismiss you. Stop worrying about what might happen, it will affect your baby.
Youre Title of your thread is misleading, it says your employment has been terminated, not according to your post, it hasnt.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

the you have leverage
What is your job? Have your employers undertaken a risk assessment due to the fact that you are pregnant ? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

No I have not attended work since the end of October. I work in an clerical role for a large company but no one in my department works part time hours. This is what raises concern to me as I am asking for something and in my bosses eyes whats given to one cant be refused for another??0

So they have not actually done this and you are asking what benefits you can claim?0 -

you need to read up on rights of pregnant women.....try googling it.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
Sorry, this is what my Councillor suspects will happen as the company I work for do not offer part time hours and its business needs that come above my own. So I think this is what is going to happen as they wont want to change my hours if I am going to go on maternity when they could terminate my employment now and replace me with someone who is able to work full time and who isnt pregnant. xx0

Are you on a contract or are you employed as a permanent member of staff?0

But they could refuse her request as it says in the post 'Due to be current medical problems and work life balance' you could go on the sick for longer (as you already are) but they do not have to change your shift because your work/life balance is not right for you.
They cannot sack you for being pregnant but they do not have to meet your request. Out of interest, what will happen if they say no? Are you trying to find out what you will be entitled to if you stop working there?
Why can you not work the hours? If it is down to the illness then why not just get signed off for longer?0
