0844 numbers with Tesco Mobile £1.49 per min
Heads up to check your bills,I received my Tesco Mobile bill and noticed I'd been charged £1.49 per min for calls to an 0844 number.
I checked my tariff and it states 20p per min.
Called Tesco and tried to fob me off by saying that these were premium rate numbers and the company can charge what they like!
I explained that these are Lo-call numbers used by many large companies,after a lot of being and talking to supervisors they have now had to refer to Billing Manager and I am waiting for response.
I thought it may be good to share this just in case it has affected others and not just me.

What? Sounds absolutely stupid. Why do they need a billing manager if it's an 0844???Tough times never last longer than tough people.0

Isn't this a pretty widely believed misconception. 0844 are revenue sharing numbers, which are more expensive to ring than geographic numbers. The name Lo-Call doesn't really apply any more.0

They are not lo-call they are semi premium rate revenue sharing numbers, and the mobile supplier can charge what they think fit,but of course they should stick to their advertised rate.0
