urgent advice required!

hi, we are supposed to be flying today, however travel agent has not issued us with tickets only pnr no and itinerary.
what can i do, they have offered us money back to book with another agent but flights will be more expensive now as we booked 4 weeks agol
any advice appreciated

what do the tickets say? Don't they have the PNR on them? What do you mean by 'ticket'?

the itineray has the pnr no. on them , no e-tickets have been issued

airline says i need the e-ticket no. to allocate seats

the reservation was made but tickets not issued by travel agent,- i dont think they actually bought them.

Head to http://www.checkmytrip.com and enter your PNR
That will give you your itinerary and the e-ticket reference. You should be able to use the PNR on the airlines website to select seats, or by giving it to the airline over the phone.
Many airlines refuse to acknowledge TA booking references, but they still should show on their system, and they can give you the matching airline reference.

However, if you genuinely have a PNR, and not a TA reference then you should have no issue with using the airlines website.

Assuming the airline actually have a record of the booking then you need only turn up at the airport with your passport to be able to fly.

Does the airline say if you have a booking? If it says no then go after the travel agent via the courts for refund plus consequential losses (extra cost of flights).

airline says that the seats have been reserved , but tickets have not been purchased

Agree with Malkie. If the airline are right that you don't have tickets then what the travel agent has given you can't be a PNR.

But if it really is a PNR you should be fine.

If its a high street travel agent get down there now a kick up a stink and refuse to leave until they issue the tickets. Also advise them that if you miss you flight because of their failure to issue the tickets that you will be persuing them to the full extent of the law.

Interesting. What's the airline? Can hardly remember the last time I needed a physical ticket for a flight. PNR and passport usually enough to check in.

I always thought the PNR was only generated once the tickets were purchased, but maybe I was wrong about this. Maybe travel agents are able to generate them without actually paying for the seat? I don't know.

i think pnr is issued when reservation is made and e-tickets issued when money is paid to airline.
