Do you mean if i uninstall avg and install avast that would help to make it quicker ?

Have a look at the Crucial Memory Advisor. You should be able to scan your system and the memory advisor will tell you what type of memory would be compatible. An extra 1GB stick for the standard "Aspire One" (top option in the list of models) costs £16.44 including VAT, so if it isn't this exact type of memory you need, it will probably be a similar price.

I think that is what was meant. Incidentally, I find that Avira AntiVir uses even less system memory than Avast...

yes, however until you post the log and commit charges, we are all guessing.

avira (and avg) uses more memory than avast, it has lots of processes that popup that you won't see running all the time
