Wireless laptop unable to find Router

According to the icon the " NO Network connection available" despite sitting right next to theNetgaer Router. It is a Dell Inspiron 1300 with Broadcom Dell Wireles 1370 WLAN Mini- PCI card. I have reinstalled the driver to no avail and undertaken Diagnostic tests which shows everyhing is working fine. When connected to a Netgear adapter it works fine but as this is usually connected to another machine it appears that i am going to splash out on another adapter unless of couse anyone knows different.......... Anyhelpappreciated.

Connect via your ethernet cable. Go to 192.168.0.1 in explorer.
    Click wireless settings,
    Set a familiar SSID name
    Set the region to europe
    Select another channel, say 6.
    Set B&G

    Tick
Enable Wireless Access Point Allow Broadcast of Name (SSID)
    Untick
    wireless isolation

    Apply
    Give it a try

  • This seems to be a rude question or making you out to be stupid but am not. Is the wireless card in the laptop switched on and is the software that controls the wireless card saying that the card is on. Hope this helps :)

Like the man says have you accidentally switched off the wireless thats biult into the laptop , there might be a small switch or a button combo on the keyboard to "awake" it.

Have you puchased anything else recently that uses the wireless frequency , perhaps a neighbour has installed wireless cameras?
  • Change the channel it broadcasts on, is it wireless G or B, does it broadcast on both channels, if so switch it on to both, is the laptop B or G. Get a friend with a PSP or laptop to come round and see if they can connect to it or even see it so you can narrow down where the problem lies.

go to the local housing estate and see if you can see other networks....I couldn't recommend connecting to them though cos that's illegal..

A friend has run a check on the laptop and the driver is corrupted even though the Dell diagnostic test says everything is fine. I take it that i need to contact Dell to get a better driver ?

How do they know the "driver is corrupted", All the drivers are available on the Dell website.
