What about typing them up onto the computer? They won't take up physical space, and you can back them up online (e.g. email them to yourself, upload to a Cloud account, etc.) which is more secure than paper.

    Hi
I did start to put stuff on a spreadsheet and then saved it to a memory stick, but before long I was back to writing stuff down again! I've got a really rubbish phone at the moment and looking to upgrade to something like a blackberry (another on the to do list), perhaps then I could have it on my email as it would be easier to access when I wanted.
Thank you for the tip :)

Spudsey I too seem to overtaken with lists! Currently I am stressed & suffering from anxiety although still working, running a house/kids and doing accounts for our business! I think lists are a symptom, they give you some type of control, organisation and put "to do" etc in order so that you can see them and not run about from one to another like a headless chicken!
Has your filofax got a diary? I would use it to note down books, places to visit in shorthand, if you dont know what it means you can always Google it to remind you.
I think I have cracked the daily "to do" list. Often the list includes tasks that are repeated daily or several times of the week. I have an A4 pad that I write the tasks down the left hand side and then have tick boxes to the right with each column representing a day ( hope this makes sense). Then I just tick next to the task for that day eg washing, dishwasher, tidying up etc. For the one off or occasional tasks I still write them on the list but when done just put a line accross the page. I find writing down even mundane daily tasks and ticking them off gives me an idea of what I have achieved and what I need to concentrate on next. I hope this helps ELaine

I have a diary and write lists in there.. to-do lists, Christmas and birthday shopping lists, bill lists etc.

I have 1 notepad with shopping lists, school uniform lists and spending lists.. I keep it on my person at all times otherwise I resort to scrappy bits of paper.

However.. I discovered if the scrappy bits of paper are put IN THE BIN before I write on them I can happily get rid and have to use my notepad for those all important life organising lists.. It also has the benefit of not being able to lose said scrappy bit of paper lists.

You just have to organise/force/bribe/kick yourself into changing your behaviour but it can be done.. I am the queen of lists!!

Cleaning lists I keep on the flylady thread, winter prep list and flinging lists on the appropriate threads also.. utilising the resources available!!

Yes I think you might be right Elaine, although the lists make things seem more out of control rather than in control…..my filofax has a notebook part at the back containing lined pages which I could use. I do always have my filofax with me too it fits nicely in my bag. Your to do list makes perfect sense, there are lots of daily things I should do to make the next morning easier on myself ie preparing my rabbits veg, making lunch, ironing uniform etc. Do you keep this list at home somewhere or do you carry it around with you?

Now you sound super organised pigpen! Another one for the lists in the diary…..think I need to start using my filofax more to keep everything in. Yes you do sound like the queen of lists!
    Thank you

Have just been on amazon and found some to do pages that will fit my filofax. My own tip which I do quite often use but sometimes don't get round to updating, is to put all the things you want to read/watch etc in the amazon wish list. This is quite good as it will tell you when things have decreased in price.

I have lists for everything, as my mind is like a sieve these days.

I keep all the lists in a notebook with coloured tabs, so I can at least find the relevant list quite quickly

None of it is important unless they are urgent, or life threatening notes, or unless you really can't organise your day to rmember to do everything, and if you can't remember to do everything, then it's time to cut back.

You're making your life difficult by acting as a sort of human post it note version of pinterest.
Stop making notes for a week and see what happens.
Then gradually introudce it again if you feel you need to. Its just displacement behaviour.

    That's not always possible

    that actually sounds rather cool

I tried that.. I started missing appointments, missing defleaing the cats, missing school events and all manner of important things.

I call my diary 'My Life' and with good reason.

im another list maker. iv condensed it down to one note book now and the 'notes' app on my iphone. christmas lists, birthdays, shopping lists, meal planning, its all in there! if i keep it to one notebook then i can just start a new one when its full. what i have to work on is actually finishing the lists and being more organised past the writing of lists phase lol.
