    Debt-free and Proud!
    Good morning everyone
A very cold day here in Liverpool, venturing over to the Wirral later to see the In-Laws, as DW and I will be too busy during the week to get over there. Managed £2 last night, will have to raid DW's purse in a mo to see if there's any change in there

Have a great day everyone, stay safe and keep saving

I also had a hubby roll in last night from a christmas works party, and after he woke me up repeatedly in the night going off to throw up I emptied his trousers of all his change. £1.05 went into my pot the rest were £1's which I have hidden away as I gave him the money to go in the first place. May end up in the pot at end of month but best to keep it out at min for bread/eggs/milk emergencies.

You sound hell-bent on saving, DoingmyB2BG, keep at it, after all why give more than you need! Also - resist that temptation - the dreams and wishes encourage you on further than the knowledge. ;) As soon as you're able to dry the washing naturally, do so, it'll save a LOT!

Sue, Thank you for the advice on resisting the temptation to count the money before it goes into the pot. I will remain focussed, I will I will.

I try as much as I possibly can to dry the laundry naturally, but at the mo the condensation is getting me down a bit despite having a good dehumidifier. I am fortunate to have a garage with a link door to the kitchen, so have a line strung up in there for use when the weather's bad, but I put some out there early last week & it froze! So, off to the launderette I went the following day. I only ever go there when I really really need to & will not buy a dryer of my own because I know I'll clock up a big electricity bill. Fear not, as soon as this weather improves I shall definately be back to my frugal ways!!

No pennies for my pot today folks, I'm on a NSD & am examining our grocery budget so its ready come Jan 1st. I read somewhere afew pages ago that somebody uses two purses for two different budgets. I think this is an excellent idea (a big thank you to whoever it is) & shall be employing this technique - one purse for petrol money, one for the groceries each with that week's budget in. I have an old purse tucked away somewhere which I shall be raking out this afternoon.

Keep up the good work everyone & enjoy the rest of the weekend x
  • Hi all, Hi Sue, can I join y'all please? Had a spring clean yesterday and found a handfull of coppers in various drawers so sealed up an old biscuit tin with gaffa tape and bodged a hole with a stanley knife and away we go!! It marked up for xmas 2011, and about £2 so far. Its very exciting!!!! And the whole family are on board which helps.

    All the best!!!

  • Hello all,

Hope everyone's staying safe and warm, staying in and saving the pennies :D

Had a couple of nsd's and was very broke end of last week so just a few pence that came my way added to the tin. Mum paid me for a few bits I'd bought online for her so that's a £5 note rolled up and popped in with a few £1 coins to keep it company so that's made up for my slow day's!!

Have been keeping myself busy and warm making bread and cakes so if worst comes to worse we can live off that ;)

Of course you can join, nbox9728, a warm welcome to the thread. It's good to have you with us, and have fun saving. :D You'll find your number at the bottom of the list on post 3 of page 1. Please read through posts 1 & 2 as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge. NB. Please pop your number on your sig, it helps so very much. NB. Pots are emptied on 1st December 2011, thank you

Good saving Kerfuffle, mummytogirls and Ruby and brummiebabe, it all mounts up - fast too! Just keep it going. Hubby put 5p on his bedside cupboard - it ain't there now!!! :rotfl:

Hope you've had a safe journey to the in-laws, sparky, a safe one home again too. The way you tell it I'm sure you have more from0 your DW's purse than she has off you. Payback time! ;)

Hi Nige and good to see you over here, a good sign for you, I'm sure! Very MSE with your home-made pot, very impressive.

Well done, jakes-mum and nickynoo! I love to hear stories of ladies ravaging tiddly hubbies's pockets - make the most of it - make money!!! :rotfl:

Very wise, lippy...but what about the swearing or have you stopped! ;)

I guessed it was just temporary due to the weather, Doingmybest but put it on as a 'just in case'. When a lot of folk first come on MSE and to the DFW board, they do their SOAs and so many have sky-high electric costs...mostly due to tumbledriers. I'm pleased you're soooo sensible and only use it as and when. :T

oooooh tinkertaylor.....I can almost smell the bread - cakes too. I'd accept your kind offer to visit for tea ;) but we always have roast at Sunday tea time. Another time. :D I wonder what you'd have done with the money your Mum owed before joining us??? It makes us all think twice and save far more. Good for you and good planning with the baking.

Nearly missed you Decluttering - a really nice amount you've got there. :D

see you later everyone. Keep warm for now.

Sue x Anyone else wishing to join, please say the word, you're most welcome. :xmassmile
