Hello! :hello:to anyone out there. I can't sleep at the moment (most usual for me) so I am partaking in my new pastime.......reading posts on the forum and being inspired and learning things I didn't know.

I am setting out my intentions in this post, sharing with you all what I am going to do. I haven't quite worked out how I am going to become debt free but feel I need to start with a declaration, no matter how small and I will add to it as learn more.

I will aim to save as much as I can in my pot but my priority will be to reduce my debt. I am going to set myself a daily budget and any change at the end of the day will be potted. Of course if I find any money that will be a bonus and added to the pot.

I quite fancy the £2 challenge but I don't get many of those so I guess that will be more of a long term challenge

I am rambling now so maybe I am ready to sleep

Morning Yoyosam - hope you managed to get some sleep.

Good luck with your debt free journey - as you say, there is so much to read on this site to inspire you.

    £2 for me today:)

  • Good morning

I can't believe how quickly this thread is growing - its grown ten pages since last weekend!

I have tried to be good this week. I used Nectar points for most of our Christmas booze. We bought a slow cooker afew weeks ago & paid for it wth Nectar points too as we hadn't broken into them for 3 years. Unfortunately I can't put the equivalent amount redeemed into my pot because I still have the Christmas groceries to buy, but I did slip afew coins in to celebtrate.

All our groceries this week have come from one of the cheaper supermarkets (I usually visit a mainstream one at least once a week to top up on cetain things, but have steadfastly refused to allow myself to this week) and reckon I've saved about £8, which has gone into my pot. I shall be trying to do this as a matter of routine from now on. Don't get me wrong, I do use the cheaper ones, just not all the time. It takes a bit more effort for me to get to the cheaper shop, but its obviously worth it. Any savings I make from now on though will be reflected in my grocery budget, as I really need to give this some serious attention & reduce it.

I found some £2 coins in my knitting bag this week which I must have stashed away at some point ( I have absolutely no recollection of this!), so they've joined the pot too.

Visited the launderette to dry some jeans & towels on Tuesday & only had to spend £1.00 instead of the usual £1.40, so the saved 40p hit the pot too.

I'm trying really hard not to count the money I'm putting in as I want the total to be a complete suprise, but its soooooooo tempting.

Hope everyone has a safe & snuggly weekend x
  • Don't think there's going to be any change in my pot today - too much snow to go out! I might try and walk to Asda later (it's only a mile or so away) to get a tin of Roses, but they're a nice neat £5 so I probably wont have any change. :(

Spent a bit less than I thought I would on a work's night out last night, so £4.05 is going in the pot today. :p
