Sorry ladies, but that sort of gain can only be referred to as stealing!

Please don't do it, you'll get your children into all sorts of trouble when they're older! It's unfair to encourage any child to do such things. That is NOT what this challenge is about.

oh no Sue, :o I didn't keep the money! I explained to DS that it was not our money, that it belonged to my friend and he shouldn't be picking it up, I gave it back to her there and then, in front of him.

DS only picks up pennies from the pavement as he has seen me do it.

You're most welcome to join us, Absinthe Fairy. It's a pleasure to have you with us and have fun saving. :D You'll find your numbers at the bottom of the list on post 3 of page 1. Please read through posts 1 & 2 as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge. NB. Please pop your number on your sig, it helps so very much. NB. Pots are emptied on 1st December 2011, thank you.

    Good for you, nu1isit?.

Then why not state that at the time aureol212? You must admit, you let it sound as though he was 'taking' it from her. That's why hismummy said what she did.

I have no problems with kiddies picking money up off the road, they're bound to do it when we do - apart from that, where's the point in leaving it there?!

PLEASE - no more inferrences of kiddies or anyone else taking money from others to gain for themselves. The ONLY time that's acceptable is if you take it from your own home; DH or OH - anyone else is NOT! ..and that includes anyone else who lives in your house or from any other family members or loved ones. We never entice stealing in any way and would NOT like it if it was done to us!

    Thank You everyone.

Lol, don't worry aureol, I'm sure none of us really thought you were encouraging him to steal. It's good that he's learning to save, even if he's not quite got it right yet :p

I don't think anyone would for a second have thought that Aureol was encouraging him to steal. Anyone who has had kids must have been in a similar situation at some point, and it's all part of teaching them the rules of ownership.

It's ok, have edited my original post, so that anyone reading from the top, won't misunderstand, that I didn't keep the money, but gave it back to my friend in front of DS, explaining it wasn't our money, so he couldn't just pick it up.

The problem with writing is people cannot see your expression or tone of voice, so the written word is harder to interpret than hearing and seeing someone speaking. I put an exclamation mark in my sentence meaning, I was horrified at what he was doing, but people may not read it like that.

That's a bit harsh, Sue. I don't think anyone would for a second have thought that Aureol was encouraging him to steal. Anyone who has had kids must have been in a similar situation at some point, and it's all part of teaching them the rules of ownership.

To be fair JoeyGrey, it was what I thought the minute I saw both posts so I've treated it all in, what I believe, to be the right and proper way. I've stated my thoughts and feelings above after the above and what I think might have been another 'incident' today, I just don't want anymore. This is a great thread for a wonderful reason, let's not tarnish it.

aureol212 has been in touch with me, as a result I've replied to her to say the matter will now be closed. Let's get on with what we're all here for - to save and be happy in chat.

    All best wishes to everyone.

    Sue
