What happens if my flight is cancelled due to snow?

I have a flight booked to Canada for December 16th. Due to the recent snow and airport closures, I'm curious what happens if my flight were to be affected by the weather. I've never been in the situation of a cancelled flight, is there anyone who can explain the common procedure? Would I go on a flight the next day, would…

Hope your mum sorts it out but basically they should offer her a reschedule however the difficulty will be when that reschedule may be. They have 3 flights a day, if all the flights were booked 3/4 full then only 1/3 of people from the cancelled flight will fit on the next flight, 1/3 on the next and the rest will be the next day.
Does your mum have travel insurance?
