American Express Gold Charge - Application...

I applied a week ago for the amex gold card and got their letter asking to send a certified copy of my passport and a proof of address.

Does it sound like I was accepted?

Has anyone got this letter before?

Hmm I see. I am not on the electoral roll maybe that is why. Well, I have applied twice for the amex in the past 3 years and got a decline letter. At least this time they are asking for docs instead an instant refusal.

Maybe it's a good news?

Answered your own question really lol If you got accepted for Amex though then generally you will get accepted for all other creditors.

Surprised you have not had any problems with other credit card lenders though due to not being on electoral roll as usually thats a guaranteed decline.

Yeah...

I sent last week my passport page certified by a professional as requested.

The funny thing is... I've checked my report on experian and there is no amex search on it.

They said I was accepted but to provide the card I would need to send a certify copy of my passport and a proof of address.

Maybe being a second holder card from my partner helped?

Dunno...

Tomorrow I'm going to phone them to check the application status.

ok great i sent mine today! how long did it take before they made decision?

and had they said yes before sending out for your passport and bank statement or after they recived it ?

When I was with them on the telephone, she said something like "For us to send you the card we only need to confirm your proof of identity" So it sounds like I was accepted and the letter itself says "Send as soon as possible for you start to enjoy our rewards scheme" something like that...

What I don't understand is there is no foot print on my report and before when I was rejected they did.

It's taking ages to be honest. I phoned them yesterday and they said I still need to wait cos they haven't received my documents yet.

Probably next Monday I will definitely have an answer by them.

I've had an Amex Gold card for the last 14 years, and it's never cost me more than £35 per year
