well im back from Egypt , 3 days late lol.
never been so pleased to be home. am on budget for the christmas shop, bought my mums food and in total am £20 under!
saved £45 on gas last week as was away. already got some £coins in tin for next year.
and my soapnuts arrived, I have used them and am really really pleased, no more detergent for me, iv gt loads to catch up on here from the last 10 days, night all x
Glad you like the soap nuts... I kid ye not you won't go back to like detergent
I got another CWP on tuesday which helped pay for the OB shop @ Mr S (think cookie cutters I really didn't need @ 4.50  and a few other bits).... but anyhow
Finally am getting to the stage where I get to the end of the month and I have savings....This is in addition to paying my extra off my OD and my loan (pay what was my tithe bar £10 on the loan - cos if it goes on the OD it's wasted money cos have been known to dip into OD when shouldn't and like the loan is higher) and also upped the rainy day fund to £10 a week following my massive five into it (well I used it all up) the other week when I lost my purse.
I have this aim to get like the place decorated in the New Year but that depends on my friend making contact again; him being well enough and getting the laminate off his dad for free/cheap. So if all goes to plan I should just have to buy paint. If not I will have to save and find some folk to do it in the spring
Anyhow only popped by to say have finally got the hang of SSK on my sock....like everything this time of year IT HELPS TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST *hangs head in shame*...doh
That half put me in the psych unit the other week....but like maybe it wasn't so much the knitting as 'the other stuff' if it was only a simple matter of reading the instructions..
Nuala you are in my prayers for your welfare checks...I'm trying to pray for you daily
Hugs

Break-ups are so hard and I find people often encourage you to a) treat yourself by overspending b) treat yourself by overeating c) treat yourself by overdrinking d) treat yourself by going on the rebound. So if you can find a frugal and healthy way of taking good care of yourself I think you could make a fortune from writing a self-help book!
Hmmm, not sure if Cheryl has planted subliminal messages in this thread but running comes to mind as something that would tick the frugal and healthy feelgood boxes.
Have to say i did similar- started actually using my gym membership to do classes (needed creche facility) and not only do i feel amazing, i also look amazing (ish - i did give birth 4 weeks ago lol) and that !!!!es the ex off even more
- he did the rebound crap and now has a gf who has 3 kids of her own and is now pregnant with one of his PMSL. After about 6 mths together.
I am currently eating a lovely lunch of left over sainsbury basic curry sauce with a tin of tuna i found lurking in some home made bread that needs using- a very very frugal lunch.
Was about to post about my buys but i need to pop over to the OTHER challenge thread to do that. Blimey i'm getting confuzzledDFW since JAN 2009 - 2014 will be the year i finally clear debtsJust to see which month

You're in luck - I never find any tins of tuna in bread! :rotfl:
Seriously, though, you runners have got it sorted. :T I know someone who took up running to get over a busted relationship and ended up running triathlons. She's been married to someone else for years now and has teenagers but she's still running and is very fit - how inspirational is that? As for me, I'm a comfort eater and I break sweat if I take a brisk walk, but I'm planning to do better this year. I've booked on a subsidised fitness course run by the local authority. You have to be referred by the doctor (I just asked the doc to refer me and he agreed at once, probably because I'm so overweight) and it's not free but it's still a lot cheaper than joining a fitness centre in the usual way. My local centre is at a swimming pool and I can do pool-based activities too. The scheme is called ProActive in my area, might be called something else in yours.

Hi
Enjoyfinacialchallenges : thinking of you at this time i find that when I feel low I need to walk more (it's free) and it get's me out of the house !!
can I also give you a mantra I use that is actually a quote from Actor Nigel Harman
"You've got to aim high and see where you land " ( this is on all my posts if you need it )Emma :hello:0 -
Thanks for the hugs everyone, I really appreciate them. I dont think I will take up running to help me heal though, walking is more my style and only then when my feet are fine....I had an operation on both earlier this year but they are not up to the running mode yet ( still hoping though).
A Merry frugal Christmas to you all.....who needs money anyway it doesn't make us any happier people. I shall be with three of my Grandsons of 19, 5 and 3, that makes me happy and even more so with the younger boys when their parents are with them. The older is now fully house trained and does OK on his own. We are still working on the two little ones.
seriouslyfrugal I think our messages passed each other on route but thanks, maybe at 71 I need to aim a bit lower now, but never say die keep hoping I know it will all turn out OK in the end, it always does and that depends on ones attitude, what does'nt break you makes you and I seem to constantly being made in life because nothing breaks me.Keep to £400 a month on C/C.
