Thank goodness someone (quoia)has explained .....
I shot off to my Asda, and could see the lollies etc on 2 for £2, but ALL the choccies are on 2 for £3, so I thought my store had different stock (weight/size of bag)
I will have to check them out again this weekend, and see if they have caught up with the rest of the country ;)

    ..............................

So I presume there will be 14 Twirls in a pack, each finger weighing 21.5 grams (approx)
(could be 15 if you are lucky)

    ......................

So I presume there are only 16 Crunchies in a bag - each bar weighing 17.125 grams
    (17 I think would be a bonus !)

DEFINITELY worth checking the "feel" of a few bags before you pop them in your trolley.

I had bought 4 bags of Twirls and 4 bags of Crunchies.

When I got them home 1 of the bags of Twirls definitely felt lighter than the others. The same applied to 1 of the Crunchies.

Correspondingly 1 of the Twirls and 1 of the Crunchies felt heavier than the others.

In the interests of MSE, science and maths - I tossed them individually on the kitchen scales.

    I was right.

The lightest Twirls was only 300g which to my mind is about 20g too light (and hence 1 bar missing once the wrappers and packaging have been removed) given that it is supposedly a 300g bag of chocolate
2 weighed in at 325g ish and yes there was a heavy one at 355 grams
The heaviest did indeed contain 15 individual Twirl fingers.

For the Crunchies the same was true.
Lightest 290g - probably underweight after deducting packaging given this bag supposedly contains 274g of chocolate.
2 weighed 312g and the heavy one was 328g.
The heaviest contained 18 Crunchie bars.

Needless to say, since further shopping was required at ASDA today, I returned the 2 "underweight" bags to CS and exchanged them for a replacement pair.
Careful selection brought a successful reward.
The "dodgy" 300g Twirl bag was replaced with one weighing 362g - a full 20% heavier !!!
The "dodgy" 290g Crunchie bag - sorted with one at 327g - 13% more

So TWO extra choccy bars in each just for picking the right bags !!

You have been distracted by "the other" offer
There are 2 multibuys on at the minute.

The 2 for £3 is a "Masterfoods" (MARS) branded list of FUNSIZE products - Mars, Twix, Milky Way Bars & Milky Way MAGIC STARS, Bounty, Maltesers and Starburst Mix (Skittles)

The 2 for £2 (and better because of additional RollBack reductions) are MAINLY Cadbury's
Definitely includes "Treatsize" Crunchies and Twirls, also Cadbury's Buttons and Dairy Milk ( also I think Nestle's MilkyBar Buttons but don't quote me on this)

    Happy Hunting

  • I just thought I'd let you know that this is was still working tonight in my Asdas, I now have lots of bags of Twirls (which are like half of a normal bar), and 4 packs of the Crunchys in our house, as well as loads of sweets...

    Yippee...cheap but nice choccy..

Its def best to buy the ones that are £1.78 alone and get 2 for £1.60, instead of the £2 offer. I scan 2 packs first to check and then stock up on my next trip..
