As we were 'travelling' I have a small first aid kit in my suitcase anyway - so just used the bandage supplied in there.

I will write them a letter in the morning. Thanks for all you help.

Good luck. You may want to ask them to replenish your first aid box though. :D

Alternatively the OP could switch the light on when stumbling to the bog after a boozy wedding.

They have raised the issue now just get on with your life.

Ah... Contributory negligence... I see. I can see the possibilities of the the hotel replenishing the first aid box diminishing.;)

I was coming back from the bathroom in the dark and scraped my foot along the screw getting back into bed. It bled for a while and I had to bandage my foot.

    Gone ... or have I?

read: I have a cut across the base of all my toes that was too big for a plaster, and had nothing to attach to at the top - so I had to bandage my foot so I could wrap it underneath, and as the skin is so thin on that part on the foot the cut bled for quite a while.

I am not in the habit of making things up for effect.

But why then in your opening post did you clearly state that you wanted some form of financial compensation?
So, when I got home I emailed the hotel asking for an appology and some recompence for my injury

    recompence
to pay or give compensation for; make restitution or requital for (damage, injury, or the like).
