    I'm ex-Microsoft, and these days I use Open Office( or libre office) instead of looking for my MS Office install discs and licence codes... There are a few things that each does better than the other, but for most even pretty hardcore users, they're as good as one another now.

    But it sounds like you're confused - exactly what are you trying to achieve in terms of end result, there may be a simpler explanation if we know the full picture!

    Hi, if you only want a spreadsheet then suggest you have a look at Gnumeric: very fast to load, few bells n whistles and free. Love it!
