I don't use Microsoft but would like to be able to use something like EXCEL. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a free download?

Open Office has the Calc program which is very much like Excel and can open Excel files0

Or it's offspring LibreOffice. Both it and OpenOffice are free, but many of the developers with the latter have left to work on the former.0

I did come across this when I was searching but it seems the free version of Open Office does not include it. Maybe I need to start paying for things!0 -
Open Office is a free product - and that includes all of it!
When you install, if you select the recommended install options, all the applications are included - word processor, spreadsheet, database etc.
Have a look here

You could also try google docs

You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.0 -
OPen Office is the one you want.
Its completely free and includes a program called CALC. This is very similar to Excel and you can open and save files in Excel format0 -

open office -> calc is free and will sort you out....
Actually found it superior to the actual excel if ever you're built a large workbook and run into the 'error too many cell format styles' message as calc is actually a bit more robust

Thank you all. I have just realised something.:o
I wanted it to list investments and to update the values and CALC is unlikely to do that is it? How stupid of me.0 -

How is Excel going to do that?
Because if you can do it in Excel you should be able to do it in Calc, unless someone's written something specific for Excel.
Most online templates (even those on MS own site) will work under Calc unless they use macros and stuff.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
