Already shared it, will turn norton off completely and see what happens.
I def think the problem is on the PC and not the laptop
My laptop has Mcfee not norton should i turn that off 2?
Many thanks for all your help, will report back as soon as poss:mad:0 -
Before you do that, make sure your network is encrypted, otherwise the neighbours will be able to get at your files.
One thing you could try, try it wired rather than wireless.
If that doesn't work, try turning both firewalls off temporarily, and make sure windows firewall isn't on as well (control panel, security center).Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
:T :T :T
I have done it!!!
Thanks to you all for help and advice!!!
It must have been the Norton Firewall, i turned it off and restarted pc and Hey Presto!0 -
Even with your routers firewall, hackers can/could get access into your network. So try to get Norton to allow file sharing. Dont take the risk.0

or dump Nortons and use Kerio firewall which supports it , is free and easy to set upEx forum ambassador

Here I am again! I still havnt found a way to enable Norton, when I do it wont let me share. I have messed about with it, wont the netgear router block has it has a firewall?0

Enable Norton, run Control Panel - Network Setup Wizard on both computers, ticking the box to enable file and printer sharing. This sets up Shared Documents in My Computer as a shared folder - there's no need to share the whole C: drive to see if sharing is working.
The Netgear router's firewall won't be blocking it because its default firewall rules are to allow any traffic originating from your computers.0
