I can now say after nearly seven years that my money saving ways are now well and truly ingrained and I actually struggle to spend money willy nilly.
that's so funny I tried to replenish my wardrobe last weekend and I couldn't find anything that I remotely wanted to buy! I kept thinking I could get much better quality on ebay compared to the tat I could afford in the high street! I hope the pendulum hasn't swung too far the other way...
In seriousness though I would like to set up a rent deposit scheme for people who aren't homeless but are living in terrible conditions. Currently the only people who can access this are homeless but there are thousands of people/families who are living in terrible conditions but can't raise the deposit. It'd be a nice thing to doDF as at 30/12/16

.
I speak to those guys more than I do my real world friends and they have been with me through thick and thin, they are know the DFW lifestyle and I belive not one of them would ever get into the same position again so I would like to make their lives comfortable.

If I had that kind of money to spare, I'd be more inclined to support some of the voluntary organisations and charities which exist in my own local area, especially as those that I have any connection with are really struggling for funds because of the general cut-backs. Though it sounds harsh, the best way of clearing your debts is to struggle and sacrifice, because that way you learn the hard lesson of thift and managing your money, and debts that are simply paid off by somebody else can often develop into new debts again very quickly because no hard lessons have had to be learned. If somebody had got into debt through no fault of their own such as redundancy or serious illness, then it's a different matter but often it has just been through lack of self discipline.0

I'd probably go and study for a few years and get a vacation... haven't had one of those for over a year.0

Harsh as this may sound but NO I wouldn't.:(
After a long DFW journey of my own I truly believe that the process of getting yourself debt free and the hardships that you suffer along the way, and the thought process of how to spend your money is the only CURE (for want of a better word).
In order to stay debt free, you need to actually go through the whole process to learn from it and change your spending habits.
I can now say after nearly seven years that my money saving ways are now well and truly ingrained and I actually struggle to spend money willy nilly.
If someone had come along and just paid of my debts, I would not have learnt anything, and would probably have fallen back to my old ways:o.
Sorry if this a bit rough but is my opinion (feel free to shoot me down in flames):rotfl:.
That's not say that I wouldn't make a donation to the CCCS who have helped us to manage our DMP and provided the crutch on our journey.
This.
I haven't gotten myself into quite as much debt as the poster I have quoted as we are not needing help from the CCCS & I have managed to pull my head out of the sand before things got well & truly serious, but I honestly think I won't learn anything if someone just pays it off - which is why I am refusing my parents offer of paying it all off & I pay them back gradually minus the interest the banks would have charged me. (I am truly lucky to have such amazing parents who are good with money!) Instead I will be shifting my CC debt using a 0% balance transfer deal
I am now getting used to budgetting (something I have NEVER done before) & saying "no" to that item I really don't need, but before would have somehow convinced myself that I do, even if it then sits in my wardrobe for years with the tags on still
I can honestly say I feel richer then ever before, because even though I am no longer buying near enough everything that I want I really value everything that I have, & appreciate the few treats I do allow myself so much more.
When we are debt free I will appreciate my newfound understanding of money even more as both me & my OH save up for our wedding instead of thinking with "oh we can't afford what we want at the moment" whilst we waste hundreds on things that aren't so important.
So no, I'm afraid I wouldn't. However I would like to donate to a few charities, probably in a more hands on way rather then just giving them money so I know it was spent well, & I am also a believer that charity starts at home so I would help out my family & closest friends first.:idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57

If i won a lottery and have a big money i would share it to charitable institutions, build house for the homeless maybe. Even Ill spend a lot of money everyday my money would still reach my lifespan and i still make a business for my family and for my future sons and daughters0

I think I well might TBH.
I have given people in the DFW community different types of gifts in the past & have received in return from different people.
