Very quick q: change from contract to SIM Only

;)If I'm making a change from Vodafone contract to a cheaper sim-only deal while I decide which new phone to get elsewhere, do I actually need a new SIM card to be posted to me - or can they do it remotely? Am currently overseas so wouldn't get new SIM for three weeks at least.

If you arrange it through Vodafone, i.e. when its upgrade time, they'll switch you onto the new deal with your same number. If you cancel old contract and start new, sim-only one then it will effectively be starting a new contract. Have you spoken to them - they may give you a better sim-only deal than you'd get directly from the website. They may not, mind...

Thanks JW. That's useful to know. I just want a rolling 30 day that I can cancel in 2011. Voda aren't my favourite people hence wanting to move in the New Year. Today is my upgrade day and I am dreading making the call as they tell me something completely different every time and regularly fib about things, so I always feel like I have to be completely on the ball about every aspect of their contracts before ringing.
