Rehydrate the room my daughter is poorly

My son used to get croup and we found we could really help by putting wet towels on those radiator rails (seemed to work better than directly on the radiator for some reason, and bowls of water in the room. If I'd done a load of washing I'd put it on a clothes horse in his room. I rarely used decongestants but just getting moisture into the air made a lot of difference0

a visit to the GP? dry coughing at night could be asthma. needs to be ruled out before relying on humidifiers.0

My DD used to get a night time cough when the central heating went on - it took us a while to work it out though...:o
I bought a humidifier from Lidl, it is basically a contraption you fill with water and it puffs out steam on a regular basis while they sleep. It worked almost as much as a wet towel on the radiator... though we also found leaving the radiator off and giving her a thicker duvet was better for her.;)
she's 12 now and has grown out of it thankfully. It would be enough to wake us up some nights though, and it was disturbing her sleep, so it was worth taking action to humidify the room.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

p.s. forgot to mention that night time coughing can be one of the first signs of asthma, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to get her checked out by her GP at some point, just to put your mind at rest.
Also, make sure you air her duvet daily by hanging it over a banister from morning till night, and give her room a hoover every day, minimise the amount of cuddly toys she is allowed to sleep with as these can also have dust mites which can trigger coughing too.
hope she's feeling better soon.:)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
