Snow and Sky TV

I have had two telephone calls from friends about the loss of Sky signal today. This was caused by snow settling on the low noise block and/or dish .
Not wishing to go up a ladder , I cleared one by lightly spraying warm water on the dish from an upstairs window ( from a bath tap shower attachment).
The other will , if it can be reached this way , receive similar treatment tomorrow.

Forgotten but not gone.

That will look very pretty, but it will not help the signal.:rotfl:0 -
Well you have two choices -
1. Get the snow off the dish
2. Do without sky tv

Snow on the dish - one of the fundamental problems of satellite TV that Sky don't tell you about when you sign the contract!
In other (more prepared) countries you wouldn't dream of installing a dish without a built in heater or cover for the winter months.
I can imagine there will be quite a few people who aren't getting what they are paying for at the moment as they can't safely reach the dish to clear it.0 -
Why don't they put Sky dishes in the loft? My brother lived in Cornwall and he couldn't have a tv aerial outside,it had to be in the loft hence my question. I also have a Sky dish outside which is subject to the elements.0

Because the dish needs a line of sight to the satellite-unless you want to knock holes in the roof, it wouldn't work.
Dishes do not need to be at roof height, they will work perfectly well at ground level as long as there is a line of sight. No free lunch, and no free laptop
