As others have said, you need to contact your insurance company.
However, in general it's usually quite cheap to add a learner - the theory being that they'll never be driving alone, and will always have an experienced person to guide them.
When you pass your test and first try to get your own policy, that's when it'll hit you :-)0 -
Possibly because you are adding a female (perceived lower risk) to the policy as well. Also learners are always supervised (we hope). When she passes your premium may well rise.
I looked into that too actually, it goes up by about £100 when she passes, which isn't that much!0 -
My daughter was charged £650 in her own car as a learner with me as a named driver, as soon as she passed her test it shot up to £1350 as she is classed as more of a risk unsupervisedBe Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

I added my husband to my policy when he started learning and it didn't cost anything, but his excess was £500 (mine is £200) until he passed his test and his excess went down. Also, when he passed, my premium dropped slightly, but as far as I know each insurance company is different.0

My insurance said sure no problem in adding a spouse to a policy, Do you want us to cancel your policy now?
Seems my current company would not insure a learner in my current car, Not even a sporty model. Just a mondeo
diesel. Adding a learner would need a change of insurance company.
I suppose thats the downside to cheaper insurance.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

it would more than likely be more costly than you anticipate, the possiblility of you needing MORE real lessons after starting off being taught by someone else ios rather large0
