Going on Partners insurance

My partner wants to put me on his insurance so I can learn to drive a bit as Ive never really driven properly before and I really need to learn soon. Does anyone know roughly how much it would cost to add a 'learner' onto the insurance - his car is a very low insurance group. Obviously we want to see if this would be cheaper initially than getting an instructor to teach me the basics...

This is a classic example of 'Ask your insurance company'. Why would you want us to guess when one phone call will answer your question?0

And I would get some lessons first.0

I would cautiously suggest not very much at all, it may even save your partner some money. I'm going to put my OH on my insurance come renewal. I'm 19, she's 18 and a learner, and it'll SAVE me £15 a year!
Insurance companies seem to like couples, so you may be pleasantly surprised.0 -
Partner teaching partner to drive is a recipe for disaster.;)0

Just pointing out that random people on the internet aren't the answer to your question:).0 -

Haha well I keep insisting its not a hugely great idea but he says otherwise...he did take me out in his car once (shhh dont tell anyone) and I drove round an empty car park, I have to say I felt a lot better and safter with him than I did with an instructor I had once (my one and only proper lesson)MFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11

Possibly because you are adding a female (perceived lower risk) to the policy as well. Also learners are always supervised (we hope). When she passes your premium may well rise.0 -

Wait for the first time he wants to apply the brakes.:rotfl:
Or the 10th time you crash the gears.:rotfl:
Seriously, you should have a few lessons just to knock the roughest edges off.0
