This might seem like a really crazy post, but it has a serious message/vent that I would like to convey.
There is someone who sends emails to our neighbour watch group leader who reads this forum.
The reason I know this is that three days after this was posted, it came through on the "regular printout" from my neighbourhood watch leader.
Then again today, I received this through the door.
My problem with these being sent is that: a. they are circulars that have been solved a long time ago and b. they worry people.
Our area is mainly elderly people. Messages like this make them incredibly distrusting towards anyone and anything - especially towards new technology.
I believe these messages have the wrong effect on people when they are shoved through their door.
So my message to the person who circulates these to our neighbourhood watch group is please please please think twice before sending them on - perhaps look at the replies first which discredit the original post.
Thank you

Couldn't agree more. Particularly stupid to send it on given what is said about it on the subsequent postings0

A really worthwhile thing to post, glider. Have you also had a gentle word with you neighbourhood watch coordinator?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Not sure why you think they got these came from this site. I have had both sent to me, they were even going the rounds at my OHs place of work a while back. For some reason these things come around in cycles both originated years ago.
It takes only a little investigation to identify that both are rubbish. I suggest pointing your coordinate in the direction of Snopes as a good starting point"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."
Bertrand Russell. British author, mathematician, & philosopher (1872 - 1970)0 -
These have been going round emails, Facebook and loads of forums I am on in the last two weeks.
What would concern me more is a inept Neighbourhood Watch Leader who cant be bloody !!!!!d to check ouyt the validity of these emails/messages and also not even be in contact with the local old bill contact. They are as bad as the criminals who do these scams. The worry is sometimes far worse than the actual crime.
I would suggest a polite email (anon if you like ) to your neighbourhood watch leader and say that these are old hat and not applicable no more or infact are just chain mails. Whats ever the circs in their messages and explain the unecessary fear they are causing and to use due diligence before sending out any namny panby message0 -

I may well do so - and write 'HOAX' in big letters of the original notice with a marker pen."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
