I found a couple of things on my desktop that I didn't put there and deleted them.  My favourites are full of things I didn't save either, which I have also deleted.  They have come back again.

Trend Micro and AVG both found trojdownloader.DU and can't clean/disinfect.  Are the 2 connected?  Does anyone know what to do?  (in laymans terms please ;D)

    Not always !!!!!! sites.

A lot of it is tracking stuff, I think. A search on google should tell you more. The spybot app often gives a few pointers about the stuff it finds and ad-aware has similar info on its site.

    The trick is to

1/ Use Windows update to keep all the latest Microsoft security patches on

2/ Use a virus checker and keep it up to date. grisoft do a free one (AVG), which lots of people recommend

3/ Use a firewall. ZoneAlarm and Sygate do free ones. the new one in Windows XP Service Pack 2 should be OK too.

They reckon that, on average, an unprotected PC will pick up something if it connected to the internet for less than 20 minutes:

He already knows I know but he's at that age where he thinks it's cool to try and shock me. He can't get his head round the fact that we've already been there ;), thinks we were born old!
