    This is why the advisors are so useful. They will know all this stuff and will look at all the possibilities. They won't leave you with less money than you have now.

    If you don't have a job and give the wee one 35 hours or more care a week you can get carers allowance, you apply for it online. There is a warning that it can take money out of the little ones benefits but it wont because it only applies to disabled people who get the severe disability premium on income support and your wee one doesn't get income support in her own name.

    You can work and get Carer's Allowance - but your earnings mustn't be more than £100 a week. There are some allowable expenses (half your pension is one, I think), but I'm not clued up on what they are.

    The £100 per week is also after tax & NI. Another one is half of your pension contributions, like you've said.
