Regulation 115(3)(a) seems to indicate overwise.

In fact, Paragraph 78 of their own overpayments guidance says they should consider deferring the overpayment if it would cause financial hardship.

hi I was hoping to apply for the childcare grant but am confused about it and worried about ending up in your situation with an overpayment.
I'm halfway through my second year and about to have to leave my job which I am doing 16 hrs a week in to qualify for childcare element of working tax credits and am looking for another job due to my uni timetable being incompatible with my shifts (which can't be changed but if I can't find one can I get the childcare grant? do I have to be working to get it? and can I get it after already starting the year?

If you receive childcare from tax credits, you don't qualify for it through student finance. It's one or the other.

sorry I should have phrased it better. I am eligible atm for childcare element of working tax credit as I work 16 hrs a week, but if I don't work then I will not be eligible for ctc, and as such will I then become eligible for the childcare grant, or do you need to be working in order to qualify for the childcare grant?
And, is it possible to apply for the childcare grant part way through the uni year?

It is possible, and you don't need to be working to qualify for you. You would however need evidence in the form of an amended tax credits notification that you no longer receive childcare from them.

The form you'd need to fill in is a CCG1 form, which is on the website.

Ah, intentionally left it full as I wasn't in a position to take on new cases for the last few weeks.
  • Hi, could somebody who has had an overpayment of CCG please tell me how this occurred? Was it due to your actual CC needs changing once you had stared your course or was it due to a mis calculation on the part of SFE?

For an overpayment of CCG this can be because the CCG2 form has not been recieved/processed. Call up and ask if all your CCG2's are on the system and if not ask wat ones are missing and what dates you need one filled in for. then go to the SFW or direct.gov/studentfinance website print and return by recorded delivery. (Don't bother asking to get it sent out it will take forever)

    Hi,
I was asking as I have sent 2 CCG2's off now and both have been received and, it appears, processed. However, since sending the last one an 'interim payment' of £21 has appeared in my payment schedule. I didn't fill in the change of circumstances bit as my childcare hasn't changed since I filled in the CCG1 form last year. I have worked it out time and time again and the total CCG of 4545 seems too high as my actual CC for the whole year is 4948. By my calculations 85% of 4948 is 4205, yet now they are paying me another £21...I don't get it, I don't want hundreds of pounds deducted from the next payment in April and I'm worried :(
