well i preorderd instore for game £20 the same day i got my email... but they wont release what the packages are going to be till the day... also on the bottom of the slip it does say you arnt guaranteed to get a console on release day... however when i took this up at my local store they explained that the preorder slips are numbered and they stick a number on each console ad stick them out the back for the desired amount then put the remainder out on the shop floor... how much of this is true i dont know
but anyways i am collecting mine after work (about 5.45pm) on the 8th... i cant see them all selling out in my local mall (even if i have to buy it from a different store) :rotfl:

Just got this reply from HMVDear Steve,
We are writing to let you know about the Nintendo Wii order you placed with us at HMV.co.uk.
We're very sorry to tell you that, because there weren't enough consoles available from the manufacturer, we'll be unable to fulfil your order on the first day of release. Sadly, the limited supply we received means that only those customers who placed their orders very early on will have a chance of getting their consoles in time for Christmas.
We apologise for this disappointment and will endeavour to secure more Wii consoles from the supplier, getting yours to you as soon as we receive additional shipments. Should anything change, we'll be sure to contact you right away.
We fully understand that you may wish to cancel your order at this point. If you wish to do so, you can access your account details by Clicking Here>>>
Although stock for the Wii is very scarce, we will have many other games consoles in stock before Christmas, including XBOX360s and Nintendo's DS Lite.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us on 0845 603 7860 (Monday-Saturday 8am - 8pm & Sunday 9am - 5.30pm)
I'll check out my local woolies I think looks like I'm out of luck with HMV.

I ordered mine online from Game on October 8th. I am really cross as today I received this email from them, so it looks like my son isn't going to get one for Christmas. He is going to be so disappointed! :
We regret to inform you that due to severe stock shortages of the Nintendo Wii, we will be unable to fulfil your hardware order from our first shipment, in time for December 8th.
You have our promise that as Europe's leading videogame specialist we will be working very closely with Nintendo to secure you a unit before Christmas. Please rest assured that we will despatch Wii to our customers on a strictly first-come, first-served basis, dependant on when orders were placed.
The Wii hardware shortage will of course affect all retailers, so we would advise that you keep your order active in our queue - there is no risk, as we will not take funds until your order is being prepared for despatch - your best chance of getting a Wii remains with GAME.co.uk.
We will of course keep you updated with any change to the situation as and when we hear more from Nintendo.
We are hopeful that we will be able to provide you with good news in the near future!
Kind regards,
The Team

You ordered at the start of October and they still can't get you one on launch? That's insane!
I preordered mine on Oct 27th, guess i'll hear from HMV soon.

If it's any consolation to everyone who has pre-ordered a Wii, AFAIK most retailers are expecting a second batch of deliveries for sale on the 12th December, i.e. only four days after the initial launch, and still well ahead of Christmas.
So not that I'm promising anything, but I don't believe that this will be a disaster akin to the the 2000 "Tracy Island shortage".0 -
Or the 2006 US/JAPAN Ps3 launch! Shootings, riots, madness!0

Slobbery sorry you got this email, what number were you on the list and had you paid the £20 deposit, I ordered for my Son later than yourself but have been told I will get one and I have not had an email from them to say anything different, I think both Toys r us and Woolworths would still be worth a go :beer:0
