Well, complaint letter was posted this morning, we'll see what happens, if anything. Even if the stylist was told for future, would stop someone else having a bad haircut.

@Slinky_Malinky, you know the thought they didn't try as hard as I had a voucher did occur to me. They seemed rather more keen to make sure I handed in the voucher (3 separate people asked me!) than anything else. Was one reason I didn't feel as keen on complaining at the time and I mentioned in the letter. You know, they might have thought, sure she's getting it cheap enough what's she complaining for.

@Sharlee, poor you, I wonder do they not care as much once they've 'hooked you' as it were. I used to have a great stylist, but I've moved to a whole new city now, and the drive and petrol costs don't make it worthwhile, so need a closer hairdresser.
Been recommended one so I'll go there when I get this stupid fringe trimmed and see how they go.

I also have a problem with my hairdresser.
Went to have a cut, perm and blowdry last Thursday, I told her I was not happy as the sides of my hair were straight and too short for rollers, h9owever I paid up.
Washed my hair on sunday night and the back and both sides were absolutely straight, not a kink of a curl!
Phoned the salon and I have to go to see the owner asap ,but what with the weather and all I dare not venture out(OAP) until the ice and snow have cleared.
Whatever the outcome, I do not want them to perm it again as it is cut far too short, should I ask for a reund?
I cannot do anything with it,too short for rollers and even my narrow tongs can't curl it!
It was ok(ish) when the hairdresser did the blow dry on the day as most blow dries will put some body into the hair but even she said she did not know why the sides had not curled and put a roller at each side to keep the hair in place, so she was well aware that the perm had not 'taken'. I am not a happy bunny,I like my hair to look nice, now I feel like like buying a wig until it grows!
    You live..You learn.:)

renegade, if the hairdresser knew the perm hadn't really taken when you left the shop, yes I would absolutely ask for a refund. Especially if the hair is too short to redo the perm. The same hairdresser cut your hair as permed it?? She should have known it was too short surely?

The last time I went to a decent salon (Regis) was years and years ago. I'd gone in for a perm and said I wanted it chin length. The dozy cow only cut my hair to chin length them proceeded to perm it! It was up by my freakin ears. I didn't say a word, came out of there, burst out crying, came home and calmed down then rang them.

They asked if I wanted my hair redoing, how !!!!!!, they couldn't glue length back on it could they? Got a full refund from them in the end.

Funnily enough, for the past 13 years my hair has been naturally curly so never had it permed since, I think it was pregnancy hormomes at the time. My hair is long and thick and I cut it myself now as I don't trust hairdressers. I would trust them to trim it, but there's no way I'm going to pay £30 + for a trim which is what they would charge because it's so long.

I use the trusted Andrew Collinge trick that I saw on This Morning years ago and it's never let me down yet!

awww shellsuit that's terrible. What a dozy berk, even I'm not that stupid!!!
Would think about trimming it myself, but was too short this time. Will be letting it grow for a good bit now first, but might have to get my fringe trimmed, have to see how bad I am at it.
    What's the Andrew Collinge trick??

What you do (but hair has to be long enough in the first place to do it) is tip your head over and scrape all the hair to the very front and hold it as if you were going put it into a pony tail, then twist it all the way down keeping a good grip on it.

Then with the scissors, take off as much from the bottom as you want. I normally take off an inch or so to get rid of any dead ends.

Doing it like that puts layers into it and even though my hair is naturally curly, I've done the same and then straightened it and it's fine and doesn't look like a home made jobby at all!

That's how I've done my hair for years now, apart from in September when I had a hair trial for my wedding and she gave me a good trim beforehand.

It's just an easy quick cheap way to do it if you have longer than shoulder length hair x

  • Hi Bratz, that sounds horrible, but at least you will get some closure by sending in the letter, although as other poster have mentioned, you may not want to go back.
I often have the same issue in that I wear glasses and can only see 6 inches ahead of me so every time I go to a hairdresser it's a surprise as to what it actually looks like at the end! I never go to the same hairdresser twice as I like to see what different salons and stylists will do.
On the upside, I read somewhere before that kelp (seaweed) tablets (available from Holland & Barratt) are meant to make your hair grow faster, so you might want to look into that. Otherwise, seeing as it's now officially Christmas, lots of glittery clips etc to take the fringe to one side?

@BangorJane, I've been taking sea kelp for about....3 weeks now maybe as someone else mentioned it helped your hair grow. Other people have told me it's growing but I can't see it lol
Might give the fringe a bit of time to see if it grows on me...or if I can go somewhere else and actually get the fringe I wanted :)

citrine, I wish my did grow fast! And the hairstyle was meant to be unstructured and textured and to look good even if a bit messy...only the hairdresser did the opposite of what I wanted pretty much
