disappointing haircut

Hey all,
Nothing much I can do about this now...just want to vent/cry
I had a Groupon voucher for a hairdresser in Belfast (not sure if I'm allowed to name?) for a wash/cut/blowdry and some fancy conditioning treatment thingy. Was worth £55 but I got it for £16.50 (very MSE
)
Anyway, if you saw some of my previous posts, I'm trying to grow out a haircut, but right now my hair isn't in any kind of 'style' and looks pretty boring, so I thought to myself, I'll get some layers etc put in. I found a pic on 'tinterweb and brought it along. http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/m539/bratz_81/emo_haircut11.jpg
Got my hair washed, treated and blow dried before the cut, which I found a little weird as most hairdressers have cut my hair wet, but didn't really bother me.
So then the hairdresser started cutting. After spending about 10mins slagging off whoever cut my hair previously, which p**sed me off a bit. I haven't had it cut for a good while as I was growing it, but she started complaining one side was longer than the other and she'd have to even it up. I know that, says I, that was the style it was cut in, longer at one side. Almost shaved at one side and a longer side fringe etc.
Showed her the pic, explained what I wanted...and she proceeded to cut my hair without once looking at the picture...and it turned out nothing like what I wanted :mad:
I didn't say much at the time as tbh I wasn't convinced the girl was that great if she cut it so completely different...and also I felt slightly intimidated by her manner.
Now don't get me wrong, my hair is nice enough....but it's not what I wanted and I want to
I kinda feel like all my hard work growing it has been set back, as she even took more off the length than I told her too. Explained I was growing it but did she care? No!
Ahhhh.....got that off my chest now. But no idea what to do with the stupid mop on my flipping head now

you could go back and speak to the managr, but would need to be quick though...0

the manager was there when the girl (a senior stylist person) was cutting it, but she didn't seem too interested.
I don't think there's much they can do anyway without cutting more off, which I really don't want to do, since she already took off more than I wantedcarpe diem :cool:

I don't know what you could do really. You do maybe complain about it not being what you wanted and ask for style advice? A few months and it will likely be long enough to try a new cut, though you might need a clearer picture than that.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0

no not really much I can do til it grows a bit more, just wanting to whine more than anything! Main issue is half the layers are too short, and therefore won't sit right, and she also cut a fringe I didn't ask for...and I'm not sure it actually suits me.
Thinking of making a general complaint, but to let me know more than anything, not expecting them to rectify it as it's pretty much done now.
as for the picture, was out of a magazine, so not sure if I could get one much clearer! Think it might have helped had she actually looked at it while cutting my hair thoughcarpe diem :cool:

I'm so sorry this happened to you honey. I hate it when that happens. The only ways I've ever found to avoid this are:
1) Be a B!tch. Micro manage them until you trust them. Make it quite clear that you want what you asked for and that you'll not only refuse to pay, but will complain vociferously in front of all the other customers if you don't get it.
2) Be an emotional wreck. Tell them that you're very worried about having your hair cut and if you are not happy with your hair you will probably sob your heart out very loudly in the middle of the salon for a very long time.
3) Find a stylist you trust and only go to them!
It would be nice if we could just show them what we want and they could do their best to give it to us, but an alarming number of hairdressers don't seem to work like that. Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -
Sorry to hear this has happened to you - when I first got my hair cut short I went to Supercuts (mistake) and the girl cut it unevenly - that's the price you pay for cheap hairdressers! Luckily it wasn't too noticeable at the time but when I look at photos of how my hair looked then I can really see it! My new hairdresser (now my only hairdresser) showed me how uneven it was when she first cut it! It was quite a bit different.
Anyway, I don't really have much advise to offer except the obvious - hair grows, try not to dwell too much on it as there isn't too much you can do about it now except complain to the salon you went to and make sure you never go there again! Perhaps buy some new hair products (as that always cheers me up) and experiment with different looks?0 -
I hate hairdressers in general as they never seem to listen to me and it always ends up looking the same ( ie superglued together but impossible once washed, flat and dull and really really boring)
I have given up and am growing it out and investing in cute clips rather then a cut I know I will hate.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

thanks guys, in a perverse way I'm glad it's not just me has these problems!
I haven't had my hair cut in a few months, as I'm growing it...so was hoping to find a hairdresser who could do what I wanted and who I could go back to. So the search is still on, although I may not get my hair cut in another 6 months at least now after this!
I will just have to keep on growing it and persevering, and hope it doesn't take too long! Stupid thing with my hair is it is really straight...until you cut it above a certain length then it decides to do whatever it wants! So all these too short layers have decided they're all going to be wavy....in different directions lol.
Have decided to complain to the salon, to let them know I was unhappy, and to definitely not go again!carpe diem :cool:

I feel your pain. When I used to have perms I would get so worked up that I would have a splitting headache while my hair was being done, wondering if I would have a head full of curls or brillo-pad style pube-like fuzziness.
It might be worth complaining by letter to the salon stressing your disappointment with the cut and that the stylist did not even bother to look at the photo. While you will have to wait for your hair to grow out they should at least have words with the stylist about listening to customers and you never know they may offer you a free or cheap cut next time. Not sure I would personally feel comfortable going back though!
Out of interest, do you think that because you were having a bargain hairdo that the stylist took less care? Not acceptable, but I bet they would have been peeved if you had been meant to pay the £55 and refused because it was not what you asked for.0 -
Complain.... I have done several times and have had free haircuts as a result. And then the stylist seems to try a great deal harder.
I thought I had found my ideal stylist; the first time he cut my hair it was brilliant but the second time was rubbish, he just didn't seem to try.
The search goes on...0
