trvs

Hi I have just read that if you have a combi boiler and radiators with trvs on then one of the radiatiors shoulkd not have a trv on. Is that right? Why.

I have a combi Alpha 35cdi which has a thermostst dial control on the boiler from 1-9. I usually have it on 7 should it be on full - 9.

Is this the most efficiant way to use the boiler.

I also have an electronic room controller that controls the timer and minimum and maximum temps etc. So i assume that the control on the boiler regulates the amount of gas used as well?

Any help?

The zone with the room 'stat should not have a TRV on it, because they could counteract each other. So if your room stat is say in the hall, the rad there should not have a TRV on it. The amount of gas used is dependent on the time the boiler is firing and the rate at which it is burning-modern boiler modulate, so they do not burn 'full on' all the time.
Are you referring to the control on the boiler for DHW temp or CH temp? The DHW should be at a minimum of 60C (or hotter if you prefer). 7 is probably about right for the CH, if it's not warming the house quickly enough try it a tad higher (maybe 8) in the cold weather.
