Bank with best online banking?

Thought I'd ask what bank you guys to see what bank has the best online banking experience?
I'm with the Halifax and while they're not bad I'm wondering if others do it better?

Thanks :D

I prefer Lloyds because their Faster Payments are reliable and I like their system of having the computer phone me to validate payments to a new payee.

I have Halifax, HSBC and First Direct.

    HSBC is my preferred.

    Halifax is fine.

First Direct are lagging behind these days, I really wish they'd just adopt the HSBC interface (maybe in black and white).

I bank mainly with Natwest, but have accounts with Halifax and Lloyds, and have had accounts in the past with A&L (Santancrap) and Barclays, and out of those, for me, Natwest's is the best. I believe Halifax are changing theirs in the new year to be a bit more like Lloyds (theirs is quite good too), so you might want to wait and see what thats like

Thanks for that, will just do that. I like the Halifax in general and they seem to be one of the better one's for customer service, or at least in the last 5 years I've had no problems, which isn't bad for a bank.

Lloyds online banking is very good - even after its facelift.

Halifax banking, on the other hand, can just plain annoy sometimes

    - Their Faster Payments are uneven.
    - The site often 'hangs' between pages.
    - Unused/old payees cannot be deleted.
    - Drop-down selection is awkward and overused.

One hopes that when Lloyds takeover is complete the Halifax website's particular issues of difficulties will be resolved

On the other hand, a £15 a month gift for minor quibbles.....?
.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam

There is a demo of the new Halifax online site http://www.halifax.co.uk/HelpCentre/tools-calculators-demos/demos/

It looks very similar to LLoyds TSB's

    Hi Jen,
appreciate that, had a wee nosey. It doesn't look too bad, think I'll hang on for a while.
    Cheers

    Hmph. I don't like LTSB's :-(

Conversely, I find it shocking that banks are encouraging users to backtrack 10 years on good security-awareness practices and ask them to accept all automated calls from undisclosed numbers as being genuine.

...with one caveat - in your example, where it is just to confirm the new recipient, that should be instant enough to be acceptable, but ad-hoc computer-generated calls which ask you to enter security details will never be acceptable to me.

I can't remember which bank it was (Egg?), but one recently sent me a text with a code that I had to enter into a confirmation box on screen - I liked that. It was expected and didn't involve me divulging any security information to an unknown recipient.
You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...
  • Lloyds TSB - Excellent

    Nationwide - Very Good
