Lloyds online banking is very good - even after its facelift.
Halifax banking, on the other hand, can just plain annoy sometimes
- Their Faster Payments are uneven.
- The site often 'hangs' between pages.
- Unused/old payees cannot be deleted.
- Drop-down selection is awkward and overused.
One hopes that when Lloyds takeover is complete the Halifax website's particular issues of difficulties will be resolved
On the other hand, a £15 a month gift for minor quibbles.....?
From January 2011, Halifax online banking will look almost identical to Lloyds TSB's online banking.
Faster Payments reliability should improve then too.0 -
Just out of interest, how does HSBC online banking differ from First Direct's?
HSBC has been updated occasionally with new functionality (e.g. ability to see some transactions such as inward BACS payments and outward cheques a day or hours before they debit).
First Direct has seen few changes. It covers the essentials, but "feels" more basic and has quirky features (e.g. inability to delete payees online - they drop off only after 13 months I believe).0 -
Thanks premierfella - I agree FD is very basic. I'm going to drop them a line to ask if they have any plans to improve it.If you will the end, you must will the means.0

I have no complaints from my time with HSBC, although I only have Santander (my new bank) to compare it with.0

I think they're all crap and add hardly any value to the experience. I'd love to be able to graph income vs. expenditure in various categories over time periods, see graphically what I'm spending and where (e.g. how much on petrol, or in Sainsbury's in the last x months), set up budgets & projections etc. First bank to let me do this without resorting to bodging it in Excel wins my custom. My PV system: South West England, 10x 250Wp Trina Solar panels, Fronius Inverter, South facing roof, 35° pitch with no shading.0
