Problems with Dual SIM

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread but as its a mob I thought this was the best place.

I recently bought a dual SIM holder for a NOKIA 7250i that was bought on an O2 contract. The phone was supplied unlocked (or so I thought) and accepts orange and virgin payg sims no problem. As soon as I put the dual sim holder on it with the O2 contract SIM in it, it recognises the service for a short period (seconds) and then drops the signal and displays the message "insert SIM". It still recognises the Virgin or Orange payg SIM without a problem!

I have recently bought a NOKIA 3510i and although I can't fit the dual SIM holder properly due to the case being different I can still connect the dual SIM (without closing the back) with the O2 contract SIM with no problems.

Help please:confused:

  • The problem is with the dual sim holder, not the phone or the SIM card. You can test this by placing the o2 SIM in the 7250 directly.

    Take it back for replacement.

I asked a couple of dealers about these some time ago; they stopped selling them because they were unreliable, they said. Whether it was pressure from the phone companies instead ...?

I am thinking of buying a dual sim holder from e-bay. In your opinion, you do not think it is reliable!! The phone I had in mind is a Noka 6100. Thanks for posting.
  • They aren't reliable and drain the battery much quicker.

Not my opinion, the excuse of the larger dealers.

But maybe they would have pressure from the phone companies. Imagine that you got one contract with cheap off-peak calls; it would be subsidised by the calls you would make in the day; but not if you switched sim ...

That's probably what you were thinking. I would go for one myself (incoming calls on one, out on the other), if I knew friends that had good experiences; or maybe people here ...

edit- Smartasss beat me in; there's one opinion - not promising

Stick with 2 phones then ...?

The O2 sims work ok directly in the 7250i's. I bought the sim from off ebay & the seller doesn'twant to know so left negative feedback. It was only £4-99 so not a great loss & not really worth kicking up a great deal of fuss, but annoying nonetheless.

Sorry to tell you but i had the same problems on 2 of these, as you say they cut out and insert sim displayed and you can only have one sim active and any time.
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
