to be totally pedantic .. yeslek posted 5 links mbb123 then reposted those 5 with another 5.
I am logged in to both .com and .co.uk sites at the same time and don't have any problems.
I guess members from outside UK might have problems with which links they can use.
to be totally pedantic when i posted that comment there was only one link on yesleks post he added the others in between the time i posted it and updated with .com c.t`s
I have been posting links whenever i am on and others have not managed to get to p.b. updated pages before me for several years but this squablling is making me think many times over about ever doing so again i am so angry.
maybe if there was a standardised post that all members of pigsback both .co.uk and .com could use then none of this could happen in the future.0 -
This is the problem with MSE! There are quite a few members who like to cause trouble and thrive on squabbling. It's a well known fact that on some threads people like to kick off. ESP when there is no need!
mbb123. Don't stop posting the answers. You are at least one of a few that do it properly. I for some reason cant access the co.UK pages and last week struggled to find the answers to all the comps so couldn't enter. Only the home page and entertainment I can easily find. But I can totally understand why you are angry!
I thought forums were meant to be helpful places. Why I came back to Pigsback and use their service I don't know but as soon as I get the points I need I am off again as all this is just not worth it at all! The good old days have well and truly gone! The art is not in making money, but in keeping it!!!0 -

If the links don't work for you in the future for the comp questions, they can be found using the links in the grey section at the top of the page on Pigsback.
Homepage - you will already be on the page when you sign in, just need to scroll down (daily comp)
Travel - click on Zones and then Travel (daily comp)
Entertainment - click on Zones then Entertainment (weekly comp)
Health & Fitness - click on Zones then Health & Fitness (weekly comp)

exactly, the .com and .co.uk variations I assumeto be totally pedantic when i posted that comment there was only one link on yesleks post he added the others in between the time i posted it and updated with .com c.t`s

first off, I'm female, and second, I only edited my post to add, 'sundays answers' as I realised I'd missed that bit after posting.
Thirdly, lets not forget I'm not the only one who finds the double/triple post's annoying AND I wasnt the one to bring it up in the first place but wanted to add my 2 pence when seeing so many other like-minded posters.
Anyways, lets just accept that double posts are annoying and the variation links are useful to some but should really be labelled as such
PS just a thought...has anyone tried (and been successful) with just manually changing the .co.uk or .com bit of a link? If it works surely that would be quicker to just retype a few letters than to close a page, find another link and re-open?

Yes, I'm very sorry that I ever raised this issue. I thought it was merely a matter of netiquette, but it has certainly aroused some feelings. So I offer my apologies to those who genuinely disagree with me, but nevertheless, some nonsense has been written.
First it was claimed that duplicate posts were begun to cover the two different PB addresses. I refer people to posts 482 and 483. (Clicking on 482 will take you to the two consecutive posts). This shows a clear duplication without additional info.
Second, it cannot be claimed that "others have not managed to get to p.b. updated pages before me for several years", because it simply isn't true. I refer readers to the pages around the posts already mentioned, and, of course, someone with 323 posts cannot have posted first daily for several years! Perhaps I have misunderstood the point being made, but I don't think so.
So rather than give an opinion here, I have provided only factual info. I don't think there can be any argument over those two points.
However, if I were to give an opinion, it would be that this has gone on long enough, so as the original poster of the request, I can only respectfully ask that the matter be dropped, in order to avoid the thread deteriorating any more. Of course, if you wish to comment further, you are obviously free to do so, but from my point of view, I think it best if we just concentrate on getting those pretty sparse piggypoints.
But again, I am sorry that a mere request for single posting and deletion of duplicates developed into a rather pointless slanging match.
Is it possible to draw a line under the unpleasantness?
A special "Hi!" to NAR, whose betting exploits were legendary during some of the better months of Pigsback's life, and to Churchmouse, who, like me, has been following the PB threads since the very first one way back in 2004 (though I think PB started officially in the UK in 2005).Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -

Just wandering past for old times sake. Good memories there, Droopsnout. I'd forgotten the betting league!

Sorry Droopsnout if i did not make myself clear in my post which you quote above. If i can try and make things a litltle clearer what i was trying to say is that i have followed this thread for many years probably not quite back to the very beginning but quite soon afterwards and that on the majority of mornings i either do not get online early enough or because the .com site is or seems to be updated before the .co.uk one the answers have normally been posted by others when this is not the case i try and do so quickly and before anyone else
Because i am often in a rush and post the links to try and help ALL p.b members not just the ones that have to use the .co.uk site like myself after posting i often close the page down as soon as i have sent the post and do not see that i have been beaten to it / totally duplicated a post till the following morning. When i do notice i have many times edited /deleted my post but if as in the case that started my anger the poster in question did not have all the links then in this case i would always leave the post even if i noticed.
Hope that this makes things clearer and if you and others are not happy with this as i said before the way i currently feel about this i am quite happy to leave the postings to others and just enter the answers myself.0 -
Wanting to wave back to droopsnout Oh what happy days we used to have on the pigsback thread
Lots of lovely banter, more daily comps, CTs several times a week, bonus finds at Christmas, Easter etc, and who will ever forget tightsplease (? not sure that's quite right, but ds will remember
) :rotfl: Oh yes NAR's racing tips netted me many a piggypoint. Halcyon days indeed

Yes luxor4T Numpy brightened our lives on many a day with his comments.
Churchmouse, thankyou for your kind remarks. I got as much enjoyment seeing a Pigsback winner as I did winning myself. One even offered me their prize of a Bet voucher as they did not gamble for money and did not want to open an account. The rules did not permit this, but what a lovely gesture that was! :T:T0
