Thanks lilibet.
tesco's and M&S do aromatic duck and I have seen it reduced on occassion. Tesco's also do a crispy chicken and pancakes - but I havn't had that one before. Will try it if it is reduced at all!!!!r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Tesco currently have their whole aromatic duck on offer at £7.99 instead of £9.99, not sure when the offer ends as I can't find it listed on fixtureferretts but it has been on offer for the last 3 weeks. I save one third of a whole duck & a few pancakes in the freezer so that every 4th duck is free, it helps with the price slightly.
I have tried the chiken version, not really in the same ball park in my opinion, especially as it wasn't that much cheaper, but everyone to their own!Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

Lillibet wrote:Afraid I buy it. It's very extravagant to have too often but it is a pregnancy craving, I am trying to keep it to once a fortnight, down from once a week! It is quite easy to pick up in the reduced section though, I find Monday mornings are the best time for it! I would have a go at making it as I believe it is only coated in Chinese 5 spice but I can't find anywhere locally that stocks the pancakes?

Well I took my £30 and decided to do a big shop instead as i had time today and the weather got a bit better- supposed to get worse during the week here.
I spent £13.88 in Netto, got catfood, milk, flour, lots of fruit and veg, plus some crab meat and pate for when I'm feeling extravagant!! the I went to Waitrose I didn't get the dishwasher tablets - I thought the finish ones were on offer no the waitrose so I just got two loaves of bread for 53p! I went on to Morrisons and spent £17.17, got quite a bit there, all my home baking stuff 9except glace cherries!), soya milk, sausages, 2 tinned pies on buy one get 2nd half price, a lot of reduced fruit and veg, picnic eggs and pork pies, also got tinned fruit to go with my nettos jellies. Then I went to Tesco, spent £7.90 on 2 lots of antifreee and two big tubs of glace cherries and got £7.75 knocked off in coupons!!
Total spend £31.73, so thats my budget for the week gone but I have done my shopping! Tonight is chicken chausseur (courtesy of the freezer letting go of the chicken!), I bought a lovely big block of mozzarella reduced so pizzas tomorrow night and toad in the hole for thursday - then I'll stick my head back in the freezer unless I have a tinned pie!!0 -
End of week one for me (working on salary months). Went to Morrisons this morning. Can't believe you go to all those different stores Halloweenqueen:eek: I like to wheel in and within 50mins wheel out a weeks worth of consumption.:o Budget per week for a family of five is £40-45 actual spend this week.....£26.00 Am I feeling smug or what?;) Thinking of going to Tesco next week cos I need to do a bigger shop and need access to a wider range of value lines. I know this is the wrong board but is Tesco's policy still to accept internet printed vouchers if they stock the product even if you havn't bought it? Also what value of vouchers should I be lloking to hand over? I don't want to appear greedy/desperate but I don't want to diddle myself eitherLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

Seems to depend on the branch Math. My branch has never taken internet vouchers but will take pretty much any value of other coupons. Others have not had such good experiences recently. Maybe try handlng over a mix with a couple of legit ones on top?
I check fixtureferrets for the best deals on cheese (which is always on BOGOF somewhere) & pet food plus any other specifics, then I have a Morrisons & a Sainsburys which I visit in my lunch hours the 2 days before my fortnightly shopping trip & see what I can pick up there at less than the anticipated cost on my list then everything else comes from Tesco on a Wednesday night and it's all done & dusted for another 10 days or so. I do think using a range of supermarkets can benefit you if you have them locally & can resist the temptation of unplanned purchases.Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

What is fixtureferret? ... seen it mentioned a couple of times now but couldn't find anything in Google
I really envy those of you who can shop around at all the different supermarkets to get bargains and reduced price goods. All the major supermarkets around here are at least 10 miles away, although locally we have a Co-op and Budgens which I can just about get to on good days (not managed it for a while now though) but being disabled I have to rely on online shopping and only Tesco and Iceland deliver here ;("An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
