Can I have a Barclays bank account if I'm in Scotland?

Good morning everyone, hope you're safe and well?
I've been thinking about moving banks for a longtime after numerous negative experiences with the RBS and for some reason I really like Barclays, also helps that they've just accepted me for my first credit card and I'd like to have my everyday banking with them too if possibly but the thing is... I'm not in England, would that mean they won't accept me? I live in Scotland and they don't have any branches here but that doesn't put me off because as a very badly disabled person I don't visit branches anyway and all of my banking affairs are dong by telephone or by internet, would you recommend this account by Barclays if it is possible for me to apply even though I'm in Scotland? I want a simple account and this one sounds about right for me:http://www.barclays.co.uk/CurrentAccounts/Keepitsimple/CashCardAccount/P1242557963900 I notice though that there's no option to apply online, would that mean it's absolutely ruled out for me then? that would be a great shame actually because this account does sound picture. Thanks everyone and have a good day

Of course you can! There are thousands of branches in Scotland, have a look here for your nearest:

Hi, thanks for that!
Unfortunately there are no branches within at least a 40 mile radius of where I am and no ATM machines either.0 -

Hey
The cash card account itself is a branch-only account, so i'm afraid unless your going somewhere near a branch then you may be scuppered. You would need to go up to the "Basic Bank Account" shown here: http://www.barclays.co.uk/Currentaccounts/Packagedaccounts/BarclaysBankAccount/P1242557963758 which can be opened online.100% G33K:D:D:D:D

Ah, I see.
I thought I would have been able to access this account online and by telephone and I honestly didn't realise that it was a branch-only type of account. Thank you for the link0 -
Why dont you just apply for the Barclays Bank Account. Its a normal fee free current account. You dont have to have a cheque book or overdraft with it, but the option is there. You can apply and manage it online. I used to have this account a few years ago, and I dont think I ever set foot in a branch the whole time I had it (except to open it as you couldnt do it online back then!), and seeing as theyve just accepted you for a credit card, you may aswell go for the "proper" bank account

And well done on getting the CC by the way :beer:Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0 -

By branch only account, I suspect the earlier poster meant that it has to be applied for in branch. Once you have the account you can conduct it online, by post, at the post office or by phone. Might be worth giving them a call, explaining you disability and see if there's any help they can offer under their accessibility provisions. I'm not sure if it'll help, but it can't hurt.0
