Hi there. I've just stumbled onto this site after looking for slow cooker recipes. I am very guilty of the every day 'small shop' that adds up. I'm going to check my expenditure for the past few months and will get back with a challenge figure for January.

Just back from battling around Mr S - flipping bonkers!
BUT - I have done the shopping for Xmas treats and next week's food so no shopping now until New Years Eve or the Sunday after it.
Managed to spend £50.51 - so 50p over the budget but not too bad I suppose.

Have lots of food, cold stuff for salad/buffet, cheeses, sweets, chocs, crisps, dips etc so no need to buy anything else especially as we are going to Mums from Xmas Eve to Boxing Day, out for dinner with friends on the 27th and then generally mooching about for the rest of the week.

NO MORE SPENDING UNTIL THE NEW YEAR!!!!!
  • Have just added up my receipts for the past week and have spent £38.04 (too much of that on choc type gifts :(). I don't need anything now until after christmas. I may even hopefully last out for the rest of the year.

Have been stranded in for the last few days and hoped to buy a frozen turkey crown in Coop. Well no sign of any left today! I guess its going to be chicken for Xmas dinner after all-good job none of us are that disappointed. If of course weather is ok Xmas eve I will look around for a reduced fresh one! Otherwise I may find one for Mew Year instead. None of it seems very important this year. Maybe its because I have the flu and I put health above wealth and fancy menus! bought sandwiches for work in a hurry lunchtime but no appetite and only ate half so that will keep for tomorrow!
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults
  • Well I've done the scary Xmas shop. £105, £60 of which was alcohol!! Needs to be a very sparse rest of the month just to come in under our whopping December budget!

  • As I'm intending to join in with you all in January, I thought I'd have a rough guess at what I've spent during December.

I've done 2 online shops, one in Sainsburys and one in Tesco (to gain advantage of discount for 1st time shoppers) and one in Lidl. None of these were particularly planned, and between the 3 I spent about £170. This does include some stuff that I wouldn't normally buy so with a bit of careful planning and making a list and all those sensible things, I would hope I could easily stick to my £200 jan budget.

I have bought "bits" as well as the main shops and a couple of takeaways and lunches etc so my spend for Dec is prob nearer £250

Oh and I've discovered there is a B&M (not sure if it was this thread I read about it on) fairly near me, however as I don't drive I will have to persuade a friend to take me.
  • ive spent a total of £45 over the last week also so already over budget !!! :( hope everyone else is doing ok x

  • i haven't posted here for dec exept to say my target of £100 for this month i was way off first the weather then not feeling too good then my daughter got the flu even though she had her flu jab i totally lost track again and i know ive definatley spent more than£100. but don't know exactly how much at least £175 + i didn't take into account bad weather and kids using some of xmas stuff by mistake so a fair bit of that had to be replaced and i think i'm nearly done for food there are a few thing still to get all the veggie stuff got the only things i forgot today were battered onion rings and bacon to wrap sausages in (someone else can do that bit)for teatime spread the only time i do cook it as only 2 of family is veggie like me and it make life easier all round as ive failed 2months in a row and only come close to my target next year i will take this into account before i plan my target and will definatley be doing a saving card didn't do one this year , well i started one but ended up having to use it but as i usually do it for £150 and today came close i will go for 2 cards next year and hope fully get my spending well and truly sorted

    Good morning

Hope Christmas is getting sorted for everybody - I'm off to make a list now just to organize my thoughts!

I'm declaring Dec at £469.67/£450 and have cheated a bit by putting my last A*da shop in my 'other' spends budget (this shop turned up even though I'd been sent one of those telephone text things to cancel it!).

Anyway, I have now spent up in all budgets for Dec so as from today I have to start January - I think this is the simplest way of keeping straight - hopefully I don't need much more. I'm also thinking of doing an annual budget next year and breaking it into monthly chunks. Then doing something extra for next December (thinking ahead!) like saving £2 coins to bail myself out if I overspend.

Have a lovely Christmas everybody and see you in January :xmassign:
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.
