Warm air heating vents - can I block them

Hi,
I hope this is the right forum I'm posting this to, if not pardon me.
I just moved into a new place, which uses gas central heating via radiators. I noticed that there is a vent in the living room, which I was told was for a past warm air heating system. I have also noticed that a cold draft flows from the vent. Is this normal or can I block of the vent, because the living room still feels cold after several hours of heating.
Thanks
Lulu

Well there is a reason for that to be there. It helps air circulation to prevent mold, etc.
You shouldn't block it, but you won't die if you do, and it probably will improve heating as well. Just make sure you open the window sometimes!0
